MyIdenTT Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Hi everyone, curiosity brings me here. I've had a water bowser sitting in one of the fields on my smallholding for some years now. It's been very much part of the scenery, so it was only a few days ago that i took a closer look. The only mark is "TB WATER EQUIPMENT". I have made some initial enquiries and received the following: Dear Brian, The water bowser is almost certainly a Thompson Brothers product. From the 1930s onwards they specialised in them. I have had a look to see if I can find a photo of some of their later products, but so far have been unsuccessful. If you have a photograph of the bowser, and want to email it to me, I am more than happy to add it to the website. http://www.blackcountrymemories.org.uk/thompbros/thompbros02.htm I spotted the following on this site, which has similarities to mine : http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?29865-WW2-20cwt-Water-trailer-bowser-restoration I will attempt to add pics of mine below: think that probably failed - perhaps I am not allowed to do pics yet?? Sorry for Newbie fumblings - I would be glad to hear from someone who knows about these bowsers. Quote
ltwtbarmy Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Hi, and welcome in! i think what you have is the tank off a Bedford MWC water tanker. Have a look: http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?15406-Bedford-MWC-66144-water-tank Quote

MyIdenTT Posted June 19, 2015 Author Posted June 19, 2015 thanks - do you think this is something worth saving? Quote

(goes very much 'against the grain') Quote
Tony B Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Welcome in, yes worth saving. Be Weery carful though! You may well end up getting a Bedford to put it on! Quote
MyIdenTT Posted June 20, 2015 Author Posted June 20, 2015 Welcome in, yes worth saving. Be Weery carful though! You may well end up getting a Bedford to put it on! Ah! 'you know me too well' already If I decide to put the bowser/tank up for sale do you think it would do better in the classifieds on HMVF (which category?? and tricky to value) or that well-known auction site? Tony B Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 I'd be suprised if someone here dosen't want it! There are several Bedfords and bowsers being worked. Price? What suits both parties is the best I suppose. Put the money towards a Dodge WC51, that will not only bring a smile to your face, but do farm work as well! Quote
MyIdenTT Posted June 20, 2015 Author Posted June 20, 2015 WC51 looks like a useful beast - but I must stay focused :undecided: thanks for your help. Quote
Tony B Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 It's the Cob of the MV world, work all week, take you to the pub on Saturday and Church on Sunday. Quote
