Bryn
Hi guys, Sorry for the first post asking for info, but if all goes to plan I will hopefully be buying my first MV tomorrow... So I'm in dire need of help. Basically I'm stopped off in Northern France at the moment and I've found an R2087 Ambulance for sale nearby. It needs some attention to the brakes, but it's low miles and complete, running etc. Plus it looks to be in good condition, I just have to see it in the metal now. What I need is any info anybody might have. I'm not here for long and have seen this things before and always wanted one. So what about spares? Prices in the UK etc? I may only be able to own it for three months or so as that's how long I'm in the UK before leaving again for 14months. So basically I don't want to spend 2-3K on getting it and then selling for £500 at the end of it all. I've found the R2087 site, but not a lot else. Any info greatly recieved... Cheers all, and fingers crossed I'll be slowly rolling in a military style tomorrow! :-D Bryn
LeeEnfield
Hi Bryn, Firstly, no need to be sorry,...this is a friendly forum, and I guess we are all willing to help each other with stuff;............ ;-) Must admit to need to do a google search for R2087. If you have the chance to get a copy of Classic Military Vehicle, april 2002 issue 11, there is a four page item on said series of trucks. A web site is also mentioned http://www.r2087.free.fr (hope you can read french). Sorry its not much, to go on,...........if I had a scanner, I'd copy article for you, so maybe's there will be someone along soon who has access to such. All the best, if theres anything I can do to help, just shout. Andy
Rick W
If it helps, i bought mine not knowing much about it. Never regretted it. Learned a lot very quickly, and got a lot of help. Sorry no practical advice! ;-)(But then these things arent very practical are they!)
Bryn
Okay... Today was a good day and if it all goes to plan I'll be a MV owner in a couple of days providing the exchange of cash and collection takes place. Here's the puppy, went to see it, it's painfully clean and a few choice extras like a helmet and stretcher etc. My main problem is now how to insure it, I called Graham Sykes before close today and they informed me they wouldn't insure anything that isn't UK registered. Any suggestions for sympathetic companies? I don't want to fall at the first hurdle and have to stick it on French ebay 'cos I can't get it home. http://i9.tinypic.com/4uu5q14.jpg[/img]
LeeEnfield
Hi Bryn, that looks good,........... :-) Re insurance, I guess maybe the best place to look would be milweb http://www.milweb.net OR/and, maybe contacting a local (if there is one) mil veh club/group. Sorry, can't help much more than that, Good luck. Andy
