lightweight
My son has a deac Mk111 Sten that he wants to trace the history of. He wants to know where and when it was made and, if possible, which regiment it was issued to. Anyone know where to look? :dunno:
sirhc
The deact cert will have details of where and when it was made. I have no idea how to trace the service history of a weapon, I don't know if you even can? Chris
lightweight
Sadly, the deac cert doesn't say when and only says 'UK' for where. If I ever find out how to trace the information, will let you know how I did it.
LeeEnfield
One of the problems, esp with the sten, was it was produced in very large numbers, by loads of different firms. have a look at the following link,.....might help :-) http://www.canadiansoldiers.com/mediawiki-1.5.5/index.php?title=Sten_Gun Hang on, a mo,..............apparently, there MAY well be a way to tell,........ looking to Ian Skennertons book 9mm Sten Machine Carbine Marks 1,1*,2 & 3. isbn no 0949749 27 3 according to him,the Mk 3 was produced by Lines Bros, of the Tri-ang works in Merton, London used the makers code S68. This is to be found marked on magazine housing, as well as other major component parts. Foe ALL things STEN, this book really is a MUST. Anymore info, ..get in touch.....................
