Petrol gasket sealer

woa2

Question

I am fitting the fuel tank gauge back on my vehicle this weekend. I have a new cork gasket, but can anyone recommend anything to make it petrol tight? When the tank is filled, the gauge housing will leak if not perfect, and I am not sure if instant gasket or Hermitite will be petrol proof. Can anyone give me advice, please?

Many thanks.

I know, and have used, a petrol proof sealer, in the past, mainly for fixing SMALL splits, holes in tanks,.....and other metal items, come to that.

It comes as a two part kit, break off a bit of both, twist together, mixing it up,(both parts are differing colours)so colour is same throughout, the material feels very like plasticine,

When it harden's off, it can be sanded, and even painted/undersealed.

Weather it would work in respect of the application, you want it for, I dunno,........but might be worth looking at.

Hope it helps.

R Cubed,

I used Universal Blue for my fuel pump and filler cap....both have been fine.

Just make sure you do as it says on teh tube and let it go off a bit before remantling (is that a word?), as it seems to shrink slightly as it goes off (from experience  )
