Morris C8
Just came in the post today, Original photos of US Ordnance / Holt Armored Tractors at a train yard in the US. I do not know what the trucks are. Keith
Runflat
Keith, by the looks of the wheels the trucks are Nash Quads (with ammunition bodies). Nice find.
Great War truck
Yes, very nice. Are those the same trailers as the Ordnance trailer which featured on here some years ago? http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?30029-US-WW1-Ordnance-Trailer&highlight=artillery+trailer
Old Bill
I think the centre lorry might be an FWD. The others are certainly Quads though. Steve
Pavy8
I think these are the 10 ton Holt tractors (front bottom exhaust and number of return wheels), man what I would give to get one of these in the barn ;-P
Ben..
The Holt tractors are fantastic, love the camouflage pattern too. A quick google search shows a couple of survivours, are there anymore? ben
Pavy8
Im sure there are some of these hiding is barns out there somewhere.. After WWI ended holt came close to going out of business because they tried selling these old artty tractors as agro tractors. as they scrambled to fill the gap, needless to say these tractors didn't serve the farmers need near as well as they served the militarys needs. It was because of this that the Holt Manufacturing and the C.L. Best tractor companies formed to create the Caterpillar Tractor Company (which was already a tademark of best. Just to expand on survivors, I, just today, accidently found another survivor at the 'Museum of Alaskan Transportation & Industry', although I believe this to be a 5-ton model. Great War truck
What an incredible collection of vehicles. lots of ex military stuff there. I think I would go for the US Army steam crane if I could get it home and had somewhere to keep it. I wonder where they got the V1 from. Great War truck
A Holt (a ten ton one I think) was on e-bay a few years back. There is another one at Hayes truck museum.
