Lauren Child Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 This might help - http://www.iwm.org.uk/upload/pdf/famhist-army2010-04.pdf There's an email address listed of "collections@iwm.org.uk" that you could try and see what they say. Quote
Hair Bear Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 Thanks, we'll delve a little deeper to make sure we have the right info then see what we can do. Rob. Quote
RAFMT Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I assume he served either in WW2 or post war doing national service? The MoD still holds the service records for post 1920(ish) servicemen and women: http://https://www.gov.uk/requests-for-personal-data-and-service-records Can take a while to get them though, and they're not always too helpful. Good luck with the search Quote
LarryH57 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I thought this thread might be useful to me too for looking in to my family history but for some reason the links in this thread do not work. Any chance of the new ones? Quote
Lauren Child Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I think something's gone a bit wrong - the link on my old post has got corrupted (there are some extra characters at the end of it). Here's the link again http://archive.iwm.org.uk/upload/pdf/famhist-army2010-04.pdf Quote
RAFMT Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Here's the link i originally put up: https://www.gov.uk/requests-for-personal-data-and-service-records But as i said before only for those in service after 1920. Those who left after the end of ww1 are at the National Archives. Quote
