RichardT10829
Was going to ask the same question Andy..... I am glad I am not the only one who has gone with blackened tracks.... We can get the abuse for it together this year Chris (if you bring it)
David Herbert
I don't move in the carrier world so would have missed any debate about this, but I sold some NOS carrier track a while ago and that had most definately been dipped in black bitumen paint as a preservative when new but after it had been assembled into lengths (of 21 links I seem to remember). The bitumen had got into the pin holes and glued it all together which made it a bit stiff. There is no question in my mind that at least some carrier track (and most British tank track in my experience) was dipped in black bitumen after assembly into lengths when new. Hope this gives you some amunition against those that are wrong ! David
eddy8men
i'll second that. all the new track I ever saw/fitted was painted in a black bitumen preservative paint. rick
