on-board tyre inflation system

Scammell Explorer with an on-board tyre inflation system, how does this work, the gauge on it shows air pressure, but the rest is so covered with layers of paint and such that its difficult to see how it works.

 

there is a small lever on the front, again all stuck up with paint.

If it is the same as the Russian CTIS then you push the lever up to inflate the tyres and pull it back to deflate them Simples!!

There should be a pipe fitting on there, possibly with a blanking cap on it, you fit the inflation hose and connect to the tyre valve, then actuate the little lever and Bob's yer uncle, the tyre should inflate ........... providing the air system is charged up

Err, no ..... you are refering to onboard inflation / deflation like a DUKW, nothing like that on a Scammell. :-D

Ah - thanks Richard - so the Scammell has something vaguely similar to the Stalwart then?

and Bedford, AEC, Leyland ............ most of the wagons had tyre inflators.
