General Lee Posted October 30, 2012 Share Posted October 30, 2012 G'day all A scrap metal dealer friend of mine has pulled a old model 16 Ajs engine out of a metal bin. Interestingly enough it was 1940 dated crank case. I cant say ive heard of a WD AJS but its brother the Matchless 3gl seem to be common in military use. Ron Posted October 30, 2012 Share Posted October 30, 2012 Yes there were officially only about six AJ's supplied to the WO under WD contracts. However there were a few impressed AJ's. Including a recorded batch of 54. One of these 54 impressed bikes has been through my workshop and the owner wanted it painted green. Another example has just come into my possession and bares a census number on the crankcase that is just three numbers away from this original picture.
