nz2 Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Manufacturers regularly stamped their chassis' with production numbers, however the location of these stampings varied greatly. The objective of this tread is to produce a guide as to the position of these numbers. So often a chassis only is located and while identifying it to manufacturer or model can be made by design features, further identifying it, or dating it by using a chassis number becomes another challenge. Hopefully this thread can assist. Leyland Stamped on top of front cross member along curved section above the holes in the vertical section. Above the crank is stamped the model, followed to the right by chassis number, then an works order number. Leyland Cub 1930- Number stamped on top of left hand chassis rail forward of the radiator. nz2 Posted May 27, 2012 Author Posted May 27, 2012 Chassis numbers should be stamped on left hand front dumb iron. However many chassis' do not show any sign of this stamping, as per the second photo. Quote
nz2 Posted May 27, 2012 Author Posted May 27, 2012 Number stamped on side of left hand chassis rail below radiator. Yellow paint on the chassis a give-a-way. The orange base colour to the chassis illustrated is one of the last of the Republic's then with American-La France ownership. Quote
