Don
Can anyone tell me how the worthing canvas door hinges fit to the windscreen? I have the hinges ( four l shaped brackets). If you have a photo that would help. Also how do you fit the studs to the Jeep for the half doors? Thanks Don
Karoshi
Worthing hinges used to be a "L" shaped bar, with a threaded bit on the short bottom leg of the "L" . The door frame itself had two "tubes" that slid onto these pins. 2 holes, top & bottom of about 6mm, were drilled through the windscreen frame upright and the "L" hinge bolted in place. This left a verticle post for the door mounted bit to slide onto. Its possible that this method has now been replaced, John and Mary (Worthing) are both very helpful and will be willing to answer your queries direct, if you ask them. As for the stud fix, well blind rivets are the secure way to do it as self tappers tend to pull out after a time. However blind rivets, (pop rivets) seem to offend the purists, even though THEY WERE proper to the period.
Don
Thanks for the prompt reply. Yep I can see how they fit, to the doors. Which way do I drill the holes, does the hinge face inwards or on the side of the windscreen frame? Don
Karoshi
Yes Don the windshield frame hinge fitting is on the INSIDE of the frame. Its fixing nut can been seen from the OUTSIDE of the vehicle. I drilled mine from the outside inward with a little help from another person to visually check that the drill is at 90 to the frame This ensured that the "hinge pins" ended up parallel to the frame, and the holes werent drilled on the pi** I'll try for a photo later, but I'm not with the jeep just at the moment.
