Jack
Hi all. Just had this in from Vernon: After last year’s fantastic “Alton in the ‘40s†event when we had the biggest turn-out of vehicles ever, we are planning to repeat it again on Saturday, June 23rd, 2007 in conjunction with the Watercress Line’s “War on the Line.†Once again, the High St and Market Square will be closed to traffic, with live '40s music, civilian and military vehicles, lots of re-enactors wandering around town and ‘set pieces’ such as visits by Churchill, Monty and General Patton and convoys of vehicles around the town centre. Those of you who have taken part before will know that the event attracts big crowds and it's a great day out, with lots of atmosphere and plenty of pubs and restaurants around the town centre to keep you refreshed.
