whitestar-halftrack
Hi all, I've recently bought a number of WW2 .30 cal M1 ammo boxes. All have been stripped and repainted various non green colours in the past and I want to strip them again and repaint them back to the original colour. What is this colour and where can I get it? Cheers Paul

Adrian Barrell
The original colour is a strange semi-gloss olive green but much lighter and yellow than OD. Best bet is to find a good, original interior and get it matched.

Cheers Paul I painted mine (for US display) with "mix 1" available from MV parts suppliers i.e. Dallas/universal etc. I have been told that when the can was first filled they had no yellow marking on, it was only when they were refilled they had the yellow markings applied. But as you know there where shed loads of different shades of OD from different manufactures throughout the war years. Hope this helps Paul
