chevpol
Hi folks, I have been offered a FN.Fal rifle grenade launcher, ex IDF, but I have no idea how much to offer the seller. Anybody know what one is worth? TTFN Mark
ferretfixer
Interesting, I was under the impression the F.A.L launched grens off the tubular flash hider Are you sure it,s not one for the No.4 Rifle? The OTHER variant is for the British SLR Rifle. A picture would confirm for me to let you know exactly which launcher it is. :-)

chevpol
Hi all, Tim, (GWT) says I might need a F.A.C. for this, anybody got any ideas? Mark
rob8066
Hi. Unless it's been deactivated I pretty sure it's illegal to own. I don't think you can even have it under an FAC. The guys on the WW2 re enacting website will know more than me. All the best. Rob.
ferretfixer
Yep, It's definately for the Izzy FAL. Strange, the diameter of the flash hider normally is sufficient to fit up the bore of the rocket/grenade normally. It is SECTION 5 UNLESS DEACTIVATED with appropriate cert. :-X
rob8066
So you can have one of these on a FAC certificated then? If so, love to know the reason for having it on a licence?
Tony B
This comes under Section 5 of the Firearms act. This means that you may NOT possces one on a normal Firearms certificate, issued by your local Police force (Sorry 'Service') Section 5 equipment, which incidentally also covers blow guns used by vets to dart animals, requires a certificate from The Secratary of State. rob8066
Thank you Tony. Really interesting answer. I can't see me getting one for Pidgeon shooting or clay shooting then? I would guess you would have to be a museum or a serious collector in that case then to obtain one.
Tony B
Or properly deactivated. That isn't as difficult as it seems. You need to speack to a firearms dealear.
ferretfixer
Or properly deactivated. That isn't as difficult as it seems. You need to speack to a firearms dealear. Easy job! Run a ring of weld about a inch down from the muzzle end to prevent a Grenade/rocket from being fitted on the launcher. Mill a slot about 2" long underneath. (or drill a series of holes in a line & file to an oval hole) Drill a hole through from one side of the bore to the other about 2 " up from Breech end & drive a cross pin in, & weld either side to retain. Submit to proofhouse for certification. Usually, a licenced Sec.5 Dealer would perfom all this for you & charge accordingly.
Panzer nut
Don't realy need certing but it helps in sticky situations, as long as you can prove it is put beyond use. Found that section very interesting when I read the Home office regs on deactivated weapons. The only question you may face is how did you get a Section 5 to deactivate in the first place.
