norm79
Hi Everybody, I took this shot at the Clifton Flyin, remains of paint look like ex military service, I have never seen one of these as a 6x4, presume a lazy axle fitted post war, looking at the grain body would think it carried more than 3 ton, also presume fitted with a V8, I am sorry I didn't take more notice at the time. Does anyone have any thing on these vehicles? Cheers, Norm
us042
Hi Norm, Post the question on the MLU forum - http://www.mapleleafup.org/forums/ To me it looks to be a Jail Bar Ford 4x4 3ton. And as you said it's been fitted post war with a lazy axel. Regards, Brett Nicholls.
Richard Farrant
Hi Norm,To me it looks to be a Jail Bar Ford 4x4 3ton. Hi Brett, It could not have been a 4x4 as it has a non driven front axle, judging by the hubs. I think it may have a Thornton double drive rear bogie. norm79
Hi, I haven't seen a 4x4 1942 model, most of them seen in Australia were 4x2 Stakesides, both the military and some civilian firms used them, and of course US Forces in Australia had them. I shall post it on mapleleaf site Brett and see if any one can help. Cheers, Norm
