  1. The high tech aluminium oxygen cylinder sourced by me, tied up with a bit of low tech rope by Croc :-D. Certainly does the job, only Croc will now have to drain the small oil lake that is the back diff to get the crap out!
  2. An example of pics to be found!
  3. This is an excellent website for those who want to do a bit of researching about the British Army On the Rhine, stacks of photos and links etc, hasnt been up and running for long (About a year) but is very good, they even have lists of all the bases and barracks, regiments that occupied them and when etc complete with links on google earth! A must for those with the types of vehicles that served with the british army from the last days of WW2 to the mid Nineties and want to find some history about what, why ,when and how they were used There is a request for information etc on vehicles that served with the BAOR, so they can compile an equipment history of equipment used in theatre (Not that there are experts on this forum of course :cool2:). I am in no way linked to the site, i just find it a very useful resource. http://baor-locations.com/Home.aspx
  4. I have heard of that one, but never as a circuit check, we used QSA/QRK for strength/readability (on a scale 1 - 5) once we opened up and made contact.
  5. Another good drivetrain additive is Molyslip, its basically molybednum that mixes with oil and plates the friction surfaces. Added it to the gearbox, transfer box and diffs on a Landrover after changing the oil in all of the components a few weeks previously, the oil change made a difference in whine and thrashiness, but the molyslip just made it ten times better and it seemed to glide along....well about as good as an FFR series 3 would probably get, even stuck some in the steering box for good measure.
  6. Yes i did notice that, however i reckon 10 seconds work with a pair of snips should sort that out! other than that i haven't seen wipers "Pig sized" for sale anywhere, and i should imagine "New old stock" rubber could be pretty brittle by now! or certainly not destined for longevity.
  7. No use at all, you can get far more family and shopping in a Humber Pig! Should start a gallery thread, My MV at the local supermarket, obviously proof of shopping would be needed to qualify! :-D
  8. Try here, i found this in another thread only the other day, i am presently having problems keeping my screens clear, even with rain-x the bodged wiper adaption i made not working that well! http://www.vintagemotorspares.com/phdi/p1.nsf/supppages/hodge?opendocument&part=8
  9. I have spent quite a bit of time trawling through Aden pictures (My father served out there with the Coldstream Guards) everything i have seen is either sand or sand and black. Here is a link with stacks of photos some in colour all to do with Aden! http://news.webshots.com/album/209684866ijMtqE?start=0
  10. This is what they were probably looking at on the other side of the wall! the Russian equivalent of the Humber, the BTR-40 an armoured body on an existing truck chassis with a 6 cylinder petrol engine (Sound familiar!) it had very similar performance to a Pig. More at:- http://btr40.tripod.com/id2.html
  11. I'm turning into a Pig geek!!:-D The manpack radio mounted outside could make sense, i have seen another picture, i think before the crash, that had a soldier stood on the roof, next to the berlin wall at the Brandenburg gate, maybe so they could see over it into the otherside, the radio been more to hand if required.
  12. The picture of the Pig in Berlin has something mounted to the roof, and the Green Archer Pig has something mounted on the front where the recovery eyes are, maybe for shunting the trailer?
  13. And as this is the Humber Pig pictures thread.......more pictures!! All the pictures are of the Green Howards Regiment, and for your info the Green Howards Regiment were in Mons Barracks Iserlohn from June 1959 to April 1962 as part of 5 Brigade British Army on the Rhine (BAOR).
  14. Right, here we go, the fruits of my recent labour trawling the internet for Humber Pig pictures in service! Interesting Bridge plate on the first picture, and the only one showing it, if only the squaddies had been considerate and actually taken clear pictures of the vehicles, including the ERM and chassis plate! As it goes however, it is very difficult to find any pictures of Pigs in service, so i'll post what i can get!
  15. I'd definitely be interested in one of those, haven't had the pleasure of taking the Hub off yet, but its only time!
  16. Might be worth having a club together to get some more of those made! Clive, what sort of cost was it to have 3 produced?
  17. Quite clever, alot easier to get that in and out the water, instead of buggering around with trailers. How do the wheels get raised/lowered?
  18. Some work gone into de-armouring it! especially the back doors, side door hatches and front hatches and all the stuff like wipers/covers put back on! Dont suppose you could measure up the canvas as a pattern and put it on here would you!:-D
  19. That is really smart, i must get my wings sorted out! where did you get the canvas roof cover from ?
  20. So who are the trustees? i would of thought that a site of such historic importance should be in the hands of the Imperial War Museum, or at least National Trust if its the buildings they are concerned about. If they can save a ropey old POW camp and turn it into a successful and informative museum (Eden Camp), how come they cant get a site of well known historic importance up and running properly.....unless they are inept and small minded....ah question answered!
  21. I have a picture of a Spitfire somewhere in North Africa with the ground support vehicles (CMP's i think) painted desert colours, i wouldnt have thought that they would of been using blue grey in that particular theatre, unless it was rushed into service. The RAF covered quite a sizeable area in that region, could also of been in malta, gibralta or even southern Italy....the worlds your oyster!
  22. Croc and i will pop down and give you a hand to put it out of its blinging misery if you get it, poor thing!!:-D
  23. Nice one! lets face it, this is one fantastic resource for our hobby and certainly my biggest port of call to find out anything old and MV. Good work Jack!
  24. Here are some pics from the Veterans Day parade in Aberdeen. I have only just had these sent to me which was a nice surprise, particularly the one of "Donald" who was my passenger, a sprightly 80 plus, who leapt into the commanders seat and seemed to wave at every single individual!
