  1. Hi Guys, I need some advice and information regarding using chains for the saftey / breakaway set up when I'm towing my howitzer. The gun weigh 5.5ton so in needs to be hefty. Below is a picture of British ferret recovery chains, I was thinking of using something simular but longer as the chains that are pictured are only 2 foot long. These chains are ideal (except length) as they have the large eyes at each end. 3 foot in length would be good? Anyone have ideas or options for me ???
  2. Has anyone managed to ID the Box, I know its a tuff question but the experts on here must have a idea of what vehicle it came from ???? Thanks
  3. Hi, The guy who needs the box id told me from what he knows it was all put together within a week from bits and pieces so thats what makes me wonder that they robbed the box from a vehicle rather than making it plus the fact that the box is tappered and I would of thought that a standard rectangle box would do the job fine on the front forks?????? If hope someone can ID the box Thanks
  4. Richard is correct, the reason for the tool box being relocated is to help act as a counter weight to the weight of the gun shield on the otherside and it was packed full of lead Richard do you know what vehicle the long box would have originally come from ?????
  5. Hi Nigel, Yes all these mods to the bike are experimental. I will see what other photos I can find that will help explain these mods better. In the mean time can anyone ID the long box ???????? Thanks

  7. Hi Guys, I need your help. I need a ID on a British storge box. Below is a picture showing a metal box bolted to the side of a Motorcycle. The box wasn't factory fitted to the motorcycle so I need to know what vehicle was it originally fitted to. In another photo it looks like it contains Bren gun barrels ???? In the photo you can also see it is a tapered box and has a piano hinge down the right hand side. This photo was originally taken in the summer of 1940 ??? Can anyone help ?????

  14. Hi guys, I hope you can help me, a friend of mine who has a customer and lives in America is looking for a RAF coat, here is what he has said Stuart, as you probably know, I do vehicles and know nothing about military clothing. But I have a customer who has asked me if I can help him find a WWII coat. This is his description: " for a Grey WWII Royal Air Force (RAF) Great Coat. I'm having trouble locating one in the size I need. The individual has a 40in chest, and all the ones I can find are small's." Is this something that you may help us find? Can anyone help ??? Thanks

  16. On Saturday the 24th October I boarded the 4 am ferry to france and was parked near a very interesting collection of vehicles all in one ? I'm surprised it made it down the road let alone onto the ferry. Also why didnt the police etc pull it If someone can brighten up the photo you will see the way all the back wheels of the two vehicles are only just resting on the tailgates (military content for this posting is I was on the ferry becasue I was doing a WW2 museum tour in Belguim that weekend)
  17. Yes sadman is your best bet, If you cant get hold of him let me know and I'll get hold of him for you. thanks
  18. How much longer is this thread going to go on for? Read this and write to Peter Bull (Hop farm owner and man in charge of budget and toilet facilities) not REX Rex said "If I could wave a magic wand with a never ending budget I would have new showers and toilet blocks erected in all the different fields. No matter what I do this will always be the bain of my life. There are practical reasons as to why we cannot achieve this, firstly lack of budget, secondly lack of water. The Hop Farm is on the end of the supply line and if we take any more water, Paddock Wood will suffer. Unfortunately for the Hop Farm, War and Peace is the only event held there that takes up all the fields on offer and the capital investment would not stack up. We therefore do our best with the facilities we have. I use the shower block every morning and never have a problem. There is always someone to chat to in the queue."
  19. Regarding the toilets I have two comments, the first is that Rex doesn't have control of the contactor, he is hired and fired by the hop farm owner and this year the owner changed the contractor and cut the budget, as did the new owner with other things he was supposed to supply to the show. Secondly if morons used the toilet correctly and had respect for other users then they wouldnt be in such a mess half the time.
  20. I was talking to Greg at the show and he says that he is running out of room and it dosent help when people book in as living history and dont display much if anything, remember its one man trying to sort that field out. The only way you can get a space is be there early or get someone else there early?
  21. Hi ABN, They are tie down points for the cargo bed, very crude but affective. All the M35s I have seen with them have been done in the factory but all the 5 ton stuff seams to have been done at motorpool level with a gas torch
  22. That's the best compliment I've ever had, thank you, all restored by myself in my drive. My first ever project so comments like that mean a lot. You can sleep in it but not with it I'm sure your Albion will look great, sounds like you have high standards. If my M54 is sex on wheels what is it when its dragging around my 5 ton of scrap shown below ??? (apart from slow)
  23. I take it you mean my M54? Glad you liked it, makes it worth while taking it to shows when you hear good feedback. (photo taken at W&P not Ardingly)
