  1. Hi guys, I'm too far north to be suggesting good machine shops, the guy I use pins the valve seats to stop them working loose!! I'm sure this is common on other flat head models? regards Dave
  2. Hi guys, I'm slowly piecing together my ex reme trailer, I picked up a nice woodhead pintle for the rear and 2 electrical connectors off ebay so most of the bits are there now. I need help with the castle nut sizes for the Andre Hartford dampers and the leaf springs, there seems to be 2 different sizes but they look similar in size?? Regards Dave
  3. Hi guys, I was trawling ebay the other day and this might be nice for someone? item number = 181120845583 looks very similar to mine but with a sankey tow hitch Dave
  4. Hi Lex, nice collection of engines there! The engine I was looking at was in a home made scooter from the 1950's it was registered in 1949, the engine number was what attracted me but it would have only been for me to sell on as I have a nice running engine in my repro Welbike or I may have swapped it over but I've got too much on at the mo so I let it go! The bike went for £460 if that helps. Dave
  5. Hi guys, thanks for the info but I passed up the offer of the engine as I wasn't sure it was correct or not as the engine number seemed very low, it didn't have any manifolds with it but it did have the decompressor blanking plug which was original so maybe it was?? Who knows eh?? Dave
  6. Hi Ron, thanks for the repl, the seller states that the serial number starts XXE 7?? So it's a pretty early Welbike if it's legit. Dave
  7. Hi guys, I have the chance to buy an original Welbike engine with a 3 digit engine number, my question is how much would this be worth if I was to sell it on? It has no manifolds with so it's just a bog standard engine?? Dave
  8. Hi guys I'm starting to slowly get the bits for my trailer, I was wondering what the dimensions for the holes on the rear pintle hook, I would measure my own but it's being shot blasted at the mo! Dave
  9. Hi Richard that's the trailer I have the picture of, I could do with some dimensions if you could suply them please?? I now have the hitch and the rear leg brackets but I still need the handbrake assy and the front leg bracket. Thanks to Geoff and Ross for the bits Dave
  10. Hi guys, gutted is the word that springs to mind here Does the hop farm not have any CCTV which may show a passing low loader or do they know of any other private CCTV like the Bp garage up the road? Surely they can help as something like this can sour the taste for future years?? Dave
  11. Hi John I went to w&p on the Wednesday to pick up a hitch which was advertised on milweb, I had a quick look around for lightweight trailers but I didn't see any before it started raining?? Do you have any pictures of the binned trailer in the background or can you put me in touch with the owner so I can get some dimensions, the line picture you posted is isometrically incorrect so I can't get any dimensions from that one?? Dave
  12. Hi John, that's a great picture and thanks for the reply, I'm really interested in getting it back to its original set up so I'm going to do a bit more research. I'm coming down to w&p sometime this week as I'm going to pick up a hitch from a guy off milweb so I'll have a look around as well. Thanks for the help Dave
  13. Hi John, yes I think the trailer is similar to mine, I think the mud guards on mine are an add on as they don't have as much corrosion as the trailer bed?? I do have a picture of the binned trailer but I would be interested in more pictures and I might have a go at re creating one?? Dave
  14. Hi guys I found another site with a picture of a trailer with a body like mine?? Anyone know anything about this one? http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/airborne-special-forces/british-100-gal-airborne-water-bowser-157833/ Dave
  15. Hi John, thanks for the reply I'm in 2 minds to restore this as is or use it as as base for a lightweight airborne type?? If it's not a reme type then I think I'll chop and change to chassis and make a tub similar to the lightweight! I think the floor plate looks original as its too well made to be a mod? It's also got green drab paint underneath the floor? The tailgate hinges are deffo post war as I took the tail gate off and the front part where the hitch goes is now 1 piece rsg! With a Bradley type civi hitch so I'm searching for a correct hitch at the mo. It does have the original electrics underneath and the convoy plate! Regards Dave
  16. Hi guys, I've been lurking for a while as I've got a 1943 ford Gpw painted up as a us chemical mortar battalion that where stationed by my home in ww2, I've been toying on repainting as a British jeep maybe a commando / royal marine unit, this has led me to start looking for a 10cwt trailer. I found this on ebait and bought it! I was going to cut it up and use as a base to build a lightweight version but after reading this thread I'm thinking it could be reme?? Your thoughts greatly anticipated! Dave
  17. Hi Joris, thanks for the welcome, I found the site a few years ago searching for welbike info. I'll get some photo's online soon! Dave
  18. Hi all I've finally got around to getting a log on and diving in, my name is Dave and I have a 1943 ford gpw but I've lurking on this site for a while now as I've been building a repro Welbike and this forum has lots to offer!! I'll post some pics when it complete ish;) Dave
