  1. Hi Nigel, That trailer has a two position tow hitch, it is shown in the lower position. I cannot think now how it was changed over, but the whole drawbar was rotated 180 degs, to bring it to the higher position. It may have been done so that it could be towed by the 1 ton trucks of that period (K9, MRA1, Humber FV1600, etc), as well as Champs and L/Rovers.
  2. I meant to post this last weekend as there was an article in the Ashford paper last week. Not much more to add as the BBC article is much the same as the local papers one.
  3. Graham, do you throw all your Christmas cards in the bin when you get them?
  4. White wheel nuts ? and mudflap missing from front mudguard.
  5. OK, this looks the place for the attached photo. it was emailed to me be a friend, so source unknown. But it would appear to be British Army in Malaya, 1950's. Now, it is a Bedford MW, with raked windscreen and a CMP 15cwt body........take a similar example to a show nowadays and everyone and his dog would tell you they were never like that in service.........just shows what did go on.
  6. Positive Tony. I am looking at a V11 Reminder now, on reverse side it states where you do not have to have Good Vehicle Test Certificate use form V112G. They return the renewal notice to you after scanning the barcode and entering details on the computor
  7. Precisely, auto drain valve is only drain valve, but there are drain plugs in the Airpaks, any water laying in them might not come out on operation of the brakes. Also I did not say the LP feed was from the Airpaks, I said wet tank, ie sensing tank ( known by different terms on different makes of vehicle ).
  8. Hardly a significant change, I used the new version of the form earlier this year, only a common sense change really, you enter the class number from reverse side in a box on the front, thats all. As for retaining, always have done, so that it can be produced if need be.
  9. There were no RHD DROPS, Kevin.............at least not in service, there might have been a few on initial trials.
  10. Neil, I seem to think the wiper supply is drawn from the wet tank, same as the pressure guage, obviously not a good idea as the purpose of the tank is to segregate any condensation or oil out via the autodrain valve. Good reason why you only get water when it is raining is because damp air is being drawn into the tank. As for draining the Airpaks, there should be drain plugs in the bottom of them.
  11. The way I have always understood it, and I having been doing it for 22 years with the same lorry, that every time the tax disc is up for renewal, you submit a V112G for the relevant catagory, in my case, pre-1960 and not used to carry goods, the form declares that fact, making it exempt from test for that year.
  12. How can that be rain water ? You would only use the wipers when it is raining so a coincidence, probably caused by the driver not carrying out the task of draining condensation from the air tank :n00b: :-D:-D:-D
  13. Sam, I cannot see the reg number makes any difference, it is all about a commercial vehicle of given weight, used before 1960. My own 1943 lorry was not registered for civilian use until 1987 ( on an age related number). So long as the vehicles build date is on the V5, there should not be a problem.
  14. I used to do a lot of vintage motor cycle events at Brands Hatch, in the good old days, on my military WM20. The track parades were done in ages of machines, so I was often alongside racers like Manx and International Nortons. That is scary as you cannot hear your own engine. We were on strict instructions not to race ( no chance with my bike ), but the fast ones used to hang back and then race by, once the pace car was in sight, they would back off again. All good fun :-D
  15. The thought of a siezing tracta joint at speed sends shivers down my back......and it was a not to uncommon occurence either. :shake:
  16. On Friday..........a RAF Merlin at no more than 200ft, flew over me, at Appledore, Kent.
  17. The trees appear fairly young by their size, so strange this plane was not found before as it would have landed on open ground by the state it was found in.
  18. J. Brockhouse Co. Ltd possibly ? They were trailer makers of all sizes.
  19. Iran ??? The first Gulf War was a result of Iraq invading Kuwait.
  20. Sorry, not one for the EKA, but do have a User Handbook, what do you want to know?
  21. I agree, and a good varied selection of vehicles shown.
  22. Don't recollect periscopes or vision blocks on the hull sides on all those I dealt with
  23. Here is the right one for your Crusader, some weight figures are different;
