1. I managed to get the last of the spraying done during the mild weekend just gone.

I have an original NOS KLG L777 plug and WD in-line suppressor connected to the coil. I've rewired so many of these WD bikes over the years that I can do it pretty well from memory! But this coil ignition version with it's PLC5 lamp/ign switch will require a refresher from a diagram.

I think my clutch plates will need new corks!!!???

    Ron

Looking forward to seeing you ride it up and down your lane at the start of May ......:D

  2. The bottom of the box behind the passenger seat is rotten so I have made a complete new box for my bedford MW(picture 1). The question now is, how does the folded edge of the small side plate look like at the bottom of the corner (picture 2)? Is it also with an angle of 45 degrees just like the top (picture 3)?

Picture 2: rotten bottom of box (how does folded edge look like at bottom?)

Another thing is, the box is bolted to the front board of the wooden body with, which I believe 5 carriage bolts instead of six. The lower hole, which is the sixth, is smaller and is not used because it is in conflict with the floor of the body. Any thoughts about this unused hole and its size? I have not drilled this one in my new box, but if it is original I will do so.

    Hope somebody will help ;)

    Danny

Hi Danny ..looked at mine today...angled at the top and bottom and missing the bottom bolt as yours!! Could not get a picture unfortunately...Hope this helps

  3. The petrol tank that came with this bike is ex hand change and I guess from 1938. There are some professional looking welds and I've checked for leaks and spent a good portion of the weekend, sanding, filling spraying with 2PK primer and wet and dry paper.

Today I built the back end up. Ron

Another busy weekend ....looking good as always Ron.....

  4. Hi Andy.

First took a piece of 3 mm thick plate and rolled around two tubes of 3/4 " and welded this together.

Ones ready I welded the ring round the tube and after well heating I bend these to a more open shape with a long 3/4" solid bar .

Had to make a few test to have enough space to slide the top tube aside the vertical tube.

The use of this bracket is that you can store the two tubes if you want to drive without the canvas cover over the cabin.

Hope this will help you a bit further !!

    Guy.

Thanks Guy ... looking good as allways !

    ;)

  5. Hi

Picked up the water bowser trailer today (a long long drive) using a small car transporter

It has the hand pumping and power pumping plates in the rear and the tank is not in bad shape, will have to decide which tank I end up using. The trailer will come in handy to move the bowser around so it can be worked on independently. The trailer chassis is interesting look like a cut down bit of chassis (possibly a Morris)

  6. If you have done your best, that is all you can do. People at the vineyard seem to be Honerable and deserve thanks for their patience and commitment to the project. I would imagine that dealing with people with magnotrometers and excavators is out of their comfort zone. Keep talking to them and form your loop, keep everyone on the same page. Well done to everyone on the project. Maybe if you suggest laying down a few bottles of Covanter Recovery as a momento for people who cannot be there it would give them another reason to keep with the team.

If they do red I will buy a case or two !!!! :nut:

  7. RF=Run Flat should have thought of this ...doh (thanks Mick)

Hubs off – look OK will have to change oil seals and the propshaft seal as this feels like it has a flat spot (probably from resting in one place for a long time).

Crown wheel and half shafts look fine (no nasties in the rear diff)

These are now back home along with the springs so I can more readily work on them. Check out brake bisector and cylinders etc. Strip down springs (and find al least one new leaf)

Are the seals a standard size or do you have to find NOS ones ?

Seals are standard size...as are bearings ..local bearing supplier should be able to get them for you !!!!! ;)
