  1. i did have my revenge on suggs. on the tuesday morning my mind was on my family not the recovery, as i went to the dig site there was a group of film types hanging around, they'd heard about my family and were shaking my hand commiserating. i shook this one fella's hand then realised it was suggs and i said the first thing that came into my mind " f@ckin hell suggs you've aged" don't think it went down well but then again i'm not known for my diplomacy :D

Its a shame and scandal...... Too give credit to anyone but Rick over this whole project is madness and one step beyond ......! We all know who is the real hero in this...and anyone who disagrees is an embarrassment and needs to shut up and get the night boat to Cairo!...its enough to give you a cardiac arrest !!!Everyone in our house knows Rick is the Prince of Tanks.......

    :D

  2. That is interesting, because the one thing I haven't tried is taking the thermostat out and running without. Might give it a go and see what difference it makes - incidentally, I did fit a new thermostat when the engine was rebuilt.

    Mike.

Not sure if it will help but I fitted a new thermostat once and it caused the engine to boil up initially then work ok after a while.Turned out there was a small 1 to 2mm hole to give some water flow when the thermostat was fully closed ..BUT..in the hole was fitted a Y shaped piece of copper on the the one end of which was a 2 to 3mm plastic ball which blocked off the hole when water was pumped round ???!!!!!...hence no flow at all!! Engine got hot real quick and boiled up but would settle down when I assume the thermostat finally opened. Removed said "thing " from the thermostat to small flow even when cold and everything worked fine from then on.

    Hope this helps

    Andy

  3. I am just in the process of getting my next project ready to go in the workshop, so I thought that I would share some pictures before it is stripped down. I have had it for a couple of years but needed to get the HUP finished first and now seems about the right time to get the project started. Its a 1944 but with a steel rear body. At some time the rear body has been chopped and someone has repaired it and added a new floor. The engine is seized solid but its still a wonderful old vehicle and compared to the HUP, very complete.

Was this the one from Oswesrty auction? Thanks for sharing...lokk forward to future updates!

  4. it's my recovery, not a tv programme, if they want to film me doing it then ok but i won't be told what to do. i would much rather do it off camera but the vineyard wants the publicity (which is fair enough) and besides it will be good for the "cause" to get a few more people interested in trying to save these tanks.

so in answer to your question yes i will put up some pics when i get back.

Good for you.....you started all this so you should have some say..look forward to the updates.:saluting:

  5. I only ever had one dealing with Alpha, who were going to grind the crank and make the big ends for a Harley XA engine for me. After nine months of phoning and false promises and a threat to come up and camp on their doorstep, I finally got my flywheels back untouched. Definitely not a firm I'd want to deal with again. Bike belongs to a friend. Ron

Does Janet know you have been putting bike bits on her new kitchen work surface.......>:(

  7. Hi folks,

Can anybody confirm the correct distributor for a Bedford QL?

Mine is currently fitted with a Lucas DMZ6A which I will be sending for refurbishing but want to make sure it's the right one before I spend my money! When I have checked the parts list it refers to a Lucas 410503. The only other number I can find stamped on my distributor is 40405A.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Mark
