On an exercise once we all set up at dusk some Signals guys asked if they could come get some water, it took them 5 hours to get to us... WOrrying thing was they were 10 mins walk away!

Last time I broke down it was in Aldershot, I was with Green Flag at the time, the recovery wagon turned up 4 hours later. He done a visual chck for damage I had to sign it then we all got in the cab and he drove me home! Got £15 comp

Did all land rovers have convoy lights? I heard from someone I know as a reliable source that not all land rovers had them... If they did were there different types or were they all the same as the usual white rear axel with a light shining on it?

I'm bored of the Red Arrows.... I spent 2 weeks at RAF Akrotiri in April 1999 and they were there doing their practice runs... 3 times a day 7 days a week... Gets boring after that!

The problem is with webbing is there is no right or wrong way... It is personal only when I was training I had to have it a certain way after you go to a platoon its up to you where you have it. 58 Patt webbing was used in different theatres of war NI you woudn't need kidney pouches in urban but in say South Armagh you would be using them. What are you reinacting?

Sorry I have not read all above posts as needed to say what a bad piece of journalism that was and how dare he portray war and peace in that way "a whole lot of war and no peace" The show brings together people all across the world who enjoy military vehicles not just nazi's. Ok a controversial author was there which did upset some people but he was not invited by Rex I did not know him by sight (excuse my ignorance) I was angry with the journalist for having a secret mic in the bar when lots of things were being said I'm sure if he recorded half of us while drunken talking he'd accuse us of many things. Accusing men who get together for a laugh re enacting as SS soldiers for staying silent as being nazi's or being under orders its just because he was asking the wrong sorts of questions you don't go up to any of us and ask so you portray the SS why don't you have a concentration camp here. The question answers its self that is offensive. I didn't know David Irving was there but I'm sure next year anyone in living history will know if this reporter is there... I am not saying I agree with the wearing of SS uniforms around the showground but I can't believe the way the "journalist" went about his questions. Does this man not realise that there are many people that are further right wing then those at war and peace and the few that were at war and peace were such a small minority that it was not noticeable. One thing I did agree with in the documentary was against the branding of English coins. I think that is disgusting and I am sure it is against the law as was he.

I will also stand there every year on rememberance day with my beret on proudly. I did not go on any tours due to an injury I picked up on a training exercise it made me angry that I could train and when my friends went to war I had to stay here and wait to here if they were ok. Rememberance day is not only for WW1 and WW2 it is for all conflicts past and present it is a day to honour those that have fallen while serving this country proudly only to have the current government to turn their backs on the widows of said fallen soldiers. Sorry this subject angers me seeing that I now work for the gas board and I get more money than a lance jack.
