Slightly off topic, and even less use, there is a picture of SRV 5 in this thread-
https://www.aronline.co.uk/concepts-and-prototypes/bl-safety-research-vehicles/
Oh dear. Not much of an improvement to the looks of the old Allegro, such as they were!

Not much use, but there is a drawing of the SRV 1 in this thread-

It’s amazing what is out there, but sometimes it’s pure luck to find it. Thanks for posting.
You’re welcome. Glad I could help. At least now it’s on here, so whatever information there is on this vehicle is in one place, and people can add to it if there is anything else out there.

Found it!

If it is a Mangrove , and it could quite well be. Then possibly it is in somebody's back yard / garden in Adelaide / Port Adelaide area - just for starters.
Paintwork looks just to pristine to be abandoned.
fesm_NDT should be aware of Oz possibilities.
He’s the one asking, so I guess no, in this case, he ain’t aware!

Just to let you know, the ID plate for your Lightweight is on ebay at the moment, I hope you see this comment in time!
@CashvanWell done by the way, good spot! Let’s see if we manage to reunite plate with owner now.

Mind you, since the current owner was last seen on this forum in May 2020, it might take a while for him to see these messages!

Relax everyone, there is nothing nefarious happening. I contacted the seller, and he pulled the item as soon as I told him, and additionally, he wants to give the ID plate to the current owner. In fact, he will be joining HMVF to make direct contact with the current owner to return the plate. This is his first response (the second is to let me know his request to join HMVF is pending)- Hi Many thanks for that.
I will make contact with the chap in the thread and give it to him. UCU 971Y was my toy many years ago and I also have some renovation photographs he may appreciate. That said due to the time lapse and my amateur renovations were as a 17yr old I’m sure it’s been stripped down again over the years.
Many thanks.
Regards,
Tony.-

I agree super6, thanks for that one. Any ideas on the original vehicle in the newspaper article and the ones I first posted (which i think are all the same make?)
Old thread, but more french vehicles, used by the red cross, and look at the census numbers on the doors!

Some more pictures of vehicles in 1945. Incidentally, I noticed that some of the pictures above are from the same sources. Great putting them up, not so great without acknowledging the source.

@GreenEagleKing On both sides, it says, “Warning- prior to commencing firing, ensure that arc of fire limiter red pointer is in the correct position”. On the front shield it says “prior to putting in action, (removing wheels and leveling) disengage platform movement blocking hooks”.
As an aside, the italian army had hundreds of these units on charge, which remained in use until the removal of light anti aircraft units from active service in about 1996. Each Bofors L/70 Troop had 2 Bofors and 2 “quadrinate dodici e sette” (quadruple 12.7 was what they were known as, officially as complesso quadruplo 12,7,, never as Maxson or 50cal) on charge, with four troops forming a Battery. Four batteries to a regiment, so quite a few in one unit alone. Additionally they were used as close defence, ground or air with Hawk missile units, so quite a few on strength when they where put in storage, mainly at Peschiera del Garda. As another aside, in Hawk missile units, if I’m not mistaken, they were replaced by the SIDAM 25 unit, which was and still is an OTO Breda 25mm quadruple barrel unit mounted on an M113 chassis.

I've found one guy in the Netherlands who has a few bits which he sent me, but recently haven't heard back from him so not sure how reliable he is. Jeepest has a few bits too I think. Like you I imagine I'm looking for all the small bits!
I think mine might have come from the same batch, mine too has the Italian data plate and looking at the photo looks nearly identical. I'm nearly on the final assembly now. I know mine does not have an ammeter, instead it had had the hole covered by an instructional data plate, not sure whats correct!
I have the same yellow markings on the inside bearing covers next to the seat. Have you been able to make out what it says? Mine was barely legible.
@GreenEagleKing , regarding the yellow markings, is this what you’re referring to?

@terra1936 Maybe you ought to specify which manual you have since, there are quite a few. Incidentally, I think the below might help.https://www.fv432apc.com/manuals/fv432manuals/2350T250/2350-T-250-522.pdf

Some photos would be nice to see. I maybe wrong but somebody did mention in the past that the British Army had purchased 2 and that Alvis were involved.
Some photos are in the link provided, which is where the first picture came from.

Indeed, apologies for the vague reference.
I don’t know why I didn’t just say outright that lot 306 looks like a Bedford MWC tank. I Must have been having a cryptic moment after watching a Midsomer Murders episode.
I doubt any of he pump gear is still in place though.
-
Hmm. Lot 306 might be of interest to Bedford MWC owners.

Try this for size. My late father in law had shown me an article in the Aston Martin Owners club magazine which mentioned this additive. This was a few years ago, so there might be other brands now.

Amazing what happens when someone provides the solution. Well done @skiprat There was one sold by the Norfolk Antique and Reclamation Centre. They also identified it as having been made by ‘The Carron Company’ and called ‘The farm boiler’. https://norfolkreclamation.co.uk/19th-c-cast-iron-agricultural-farm-boiler-by-the-carron-company-the-farm-boiler.html
