  1. Hello Pawel. Unfortunately as you can see from this excerpt from "British Forces Motorcycles" the records for contract C5108 are inconclusive. Lots were lost during the bombing of the Triumph factory in 1940. The bikes on the left in the picture are from that contract. Note the 6" headlamps. I think these are based on the pre war 3SE. The field stand pivot was a bolt on item for these.

  2. I have friends on Gurney Isle:-  Rick, Carl, Phil who I have bought paint for from http://www.rainbow-paints.co.uk/ I use their single pack Polyurethane mat. But I'm sure they have delivered it to the port in Poole. Otherwise it will have to be shipped by Parcelforce. I live in Poole BTW.  I don't know what service is running to those God forsaken rocks out in the ocean☺️  Ron

  3. Yep what is happening with yours Phil? I'm reminded to post some "finished" pictures of mine. And between the pictures, I've also changed the saddle to a Lycette with NOS Rexene cover. Ron

  4. No Chris the clamp is correct only for the earlier SV's. The welded on pivot is correct on a 3HW. The battery was a Lucas "WD" item which had a date molded in. Here is my original (1943) which has been used as a pattern to make some nice repros........When time and conditions allow.

  5. TL 30318 is not listed in O&M but should be from 1941. Possibly more lost records? Maybe Steve M can shed some light. Engine 52550 is from contract S2956 in 1943/4. There should be a date stamp under your saddle on the top of the saddle tube. eg ...........TEC MM.YY (Triumph Engineering Co "Date")  Ron

  6. Some good points about the saddles Steve, these little nuggets get stored for future reference👍

You've mentioned before about the springs, but both my Flea and ML have the straight type. I have a spare pair of barrel shaped springs which I was about to fit to my ML. But as I study pictures, I'm convinced that they used both types? Whether it was at random or in batches of what ever came in to the factory is a mystery to me.

In fact as I expand the picture with rows of Fleas, the first bike appears to have straight springs and the one behind looks like barrel springs?  Ron
