  1. Might have a Dodge WC51 as well by then!! Maybe form up and convoy in Mike?
  2. I will be going in my mates 101 come and say hello (smell the bacon sandwiches in the back of the truck)!
  3. For my sins I am a watch manager specialist in the london fire brigade, basically started out in 1989 as a firefighter, spent the next 17 years doing that and the past 3 years have been on the CBRN (Chemical Biological Radialogical Nuclear) rapid response team based in central London as a watch manager specialist. I am a national advisor and work closely with most of the secret police people Basically I identify chemicals and anti terrorist stuff! Keith
  4. No Adrian, Nothing to do with the show just a concerned reenactor who has decided to take the bull by the horns so to speak!
  5. Jack, well deserved award mate, remember us, from Normandy44, spent an awful lot of cash with you and had a friend with the same surname (you beckett's get everywhere)! Nice to see you mate will be at the victory show so come say hello if you are around! Keith (not a Beckett)!
  6. Hi, Read this thread with intrest and can see that there are a few problems that need ironing out! As the powder monkey/stroke firing pin in the M24 Chaffee I can assure people that we had a person on each corner of our tank when it was moving I did however witness other tracked vehicles moving with a "marshall" sat on the top/turret shouting get out the way!!! The Barmy Army disco thing, it was me who wandered over at about 4am Sunday morning to tell them to turn the bloody noise off or I will! they said they would turn it down however I convinced them that turning off the music would be better. ;o) I met with Martin the only copper on duty who polices this event (I am a fireman in London so a bit of professional comradeship), he told me that he has very little trouble at the war & peace as most of the people police the event themselves, he stated he does not condone violence or theft and that he would ask that if we cought anyone doing this then please leave him enough flesh to prosecute (his words not mine)!!! Bit of a cowboy/goldrush feel about the whole event what with self policing and all sorts of yeehaaa vehicles cruising around (as we were pitched in the living history field next to the main road we saw most things), have decides to borrow a couple of stingers for next years show ;o) Apart from the usual shower and toilet situation was it really that bad or is it because as we get older we are getting more and more less tolerent? I for one will be there next year however I will have a few tricks up my sleeve to ensure that disco's etc do not go on past 3am and that tracked vehicles are marshalled correctly ;o) Keith
  7. Hello, Not sure if this is the right place to put this request so mods please feel free to move if I got it wrong. We are attending an event in Surrey on the 4th April at Ewell West station to celebrate it's 150th birthday, we have been asked to come along dressed in American ww2 kit. What we are looking for is a vehicle to come along as well, either British or American so long as it is from that era. This event is only for the day and runs from 10 am till 4 pm so it might be a good excuse to blow the cobwebs out the carbs of your vehicle in preperation for all the events you might be attending. I have been assured that the owner of the vehicle will be well looked after regarding coffee and sandwiches etc etc Plus you get the chance to have a chinwag with me ) If you think you might be able to help out please feel free to contact me via pm here or on my mobile 07973 504989 Many thanks in advance Keith http://www.ewell150.co.uk

  10. A young whipper snapper, wow do you mind if I quote you when someone asks how old I am.
  11. Hello folks, Well this year I have booked the whole week at the W&P show with a mate of mine, we have spoken to Barbara and Rex when we went to Stoneleigh about camping in the Americas field as we now have a M1934 Pyramidial tent as part of our equipment (101st Airborne) but no Vehicle, they assured us it would be fine. Well my offer is to anybody who has a vehicle they want taken to W&P or driven while they are there as I am a fireman and have an HGV licence, I am used to all sorts of vehicles including Hook Lifts, demountables, volvo's Mercs etc etc etc. As I run a sideline dealing with Vintage and classic cars http://www.akvintage.co.uk I am also used to double declutching, pre-selecter gearboxes etc. I have no accidents claims or convictions just a genuine interest in all things military so until I can afford my own vehicle I thought I could offer my services to somebody out there who has more than 1 (you lucky buggers). My contact details including home address etc can be PM'd to anybody interested and for insurance purposes I have been HGV qualified for 11 + years, police class 2 pursuit trained (cant see much use for that in a military vehicle though) and I am 42 years old (43 in August)! Regards Keith
  12. Wow great welcome, thank you folks. I am based in Surrey but work in London, and dont mind driving green goddesses ;-) Looking forward to meeting some of you kind folks soon.
