Strange you should mention that town, although I have never visited The Netherlands
that name has fascinated me for nearly 60 years and I hope that one day soon I can pay the town a visit.

That's the one, I always thought dragon would have been a more suitable name. :-D
Incidentally I've just remembered the author's name, Wilson and I think the christian name is Andrew.

Sounds as if you've got the same tastes as me. :-)

Glad to join Mark in welcoming youto the Forum, enjoyed seeing thepics you posted and look forward to seeing the film. With your obvious interest in MV's could I venture to suggest that you join the Military Vehicle Trust, you don't have to own a vehicle to join and I amsure you would find it worth while and am also sure you would recieve a warm welcome at a meeting of your local area group. Thats normal with all vehicles Steve, if that doesn't happen expensive noises can be expected, :argh:

Thanks for posting the museum site Enigma, definitely a place to add to the list of 'Places I want to visit'.
-
As you like the style have you tried some of the other 40's music such as Glenn Miller,
The Andrew's Sister's or The Inkspots?

First hand account of fighting in a Churchill flamethrower tank, one of the best tank books to come out of WW11.

If you're still looking for a picture book try 'The GMC 6x6 and DUKW A Universal Truck'
by Boniface/Jeudy ISBN 085429-860-6. It's out of print now but try one of the big book sites such as Amazon and there's usually a few copies available, the American ones are usually cheapest and with the present exchange rate there are some real bargains

Jack, Iwasn't suggesting that you were going to profit from this venture, just hoping that it would make the site more self financing rather than being paid for out of your pocket. :oops2:

Received the book today, I was lucky enough to find a signed copy dedicated
'To George, The best mate I had in the Army' it will be treasured and along with the rest of my book collection go to a suitable home when I go to join my betters.

I can see from the pics why you want to do somethig about preserving it, not easy to deal with the corrosion and still keep the original paint and markings, perhaps somebody else on the forum has come up against the same problem and found a solution. Kewelde, anybody???

Sounds good Mark, how did you manage to get in on it?

Jack, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results, do you know exactly what the kit consists of or is it going to be an 'Open the Box' job. :-o :-)

Strange coincidence, the day after your post their album popped up on a music site I use, downloaded it and surprisingly good.

The war was over years ago lads, so why the beef about sound a like names (it's only a play on words) :?
Some of us have got long memories.

I smell money but that's only fair, Jack's pockets can't be bottomless and this forum costs.

I can call him anything I like, especially when my tongue is firmly in my cheek.
Age hath it's privileges.

:goodidea: I've taken the jimmy to work several times and it has created a good deal of interest amongst staff and customers, I always make sure I observe the silence
whether in the office or out in a vehicle. I collect for Poppy Day with the local branch of the RBL and several of us take vehicles to support the occasion, sadly since I no longer have a vehicle this will not be possible in future.

:? If the cap fits....... :pfrt: :-D

I hope that you find the G90's suitable, many people have been trying to resell them soon after buying and a lot of squaddies dislike them, it appears that the off road performance is not up to expectations.
