  1. Also watch out for 'training brokers' they sometimes inflate the price for their 15% commission and finders fee ! We always used to refer to biggest training venue in the north... Normandy Barracks Leconfield Beverley !
  2. Having read through my previous post... What i forgot to ask was; How long do canvas covers last if left outside instead of Barn storage or shed cover ? Being conscious of stronger uv degradation plus as already stated extreme weather conditions. Is there a rule of thumb inspection system ? ie can you age range a cover easily etc, sorry for the long winded and wandering question, thank goodness there is a 'stupid question ' section, or I think I would have been drummed out of this forum by now:red:
  3. Hi is anybody going to York on the 10th April for the MVT Crank up ? I have my pass signed seeing as its the week after mother's day !:red:
  4. Thanks for the replies Chaps ! I just wanted to be sure before getting excited, plus i haven't got workshop space till April 21st, and as usual march/April weather can get pretty wet as usual !!. Apparently the Owner has a B&B at Thorne and he has been advertising the GMC at Car boot sales in Doncaster and it was on Milweb some time back. I was hoping to catch Phil Jarvis at the museum but as usual he is away working I am sure he will know of the owner
  5. Just wondered Tony, the truck has been parked up in a sheltered spot but been covered in the regulation foot of snow a few times plus all the heavy rain etc etc The canvas has sagged off the rear hoop and the rear flap looks too have fallen to the load area, the cab side screens aren't in place etc, anyway just thought I would ask the Knowledgable Grail of HMVF:blush:
  6. Well thought it was time to ask another daft question...well a few really:undecided: I have been tormented by the sight of a CCKW 353 stored out in the open very close to where I live (Thorne actually) just wondered how long the canvas would hold up, being left out over this past winter etc also what does 'banjo axle' mean ? seen it referred to many times but can't find the definition. I know I really want to get a Reo but....:red:
  7. Chris seems highly amused by all the free publicity, I think it is just about sold....abroad:undecided:
  8. I was on gate/car park duty that day, was really impressed with the convoy ! Neat GMC with a Jeep in the back, full set up with ramps and winch, I can only dream....
  9. I don't know what you mean
  10. Yes, the very one ! We now use it as the mobile pressure washer ! nearly took the paint off the Hunter:blush:
  11. Apparently back in the sands of time, I said my collecting policy would be around rotary stuff, however I have collected a number of fixed wing items, like Jaguar,Tornado,TSR2......I didn't realise how much space all these boxes take up....8x6 tongue and groove desres in the garden for me:nut:

  16. I have been rumbled ! My Corgi die cast aviation collection has gained a TSR2 ! I can't for the life of me imagine how that got there...honest anyway we have a general inquiry tonight ...wish me luck:red:
  17. Sorry, please accept my profuse apologies:cry: Brain fried from sitting in workshop sorting numerous rivets, a donation received at the museum, however nobody realised that they were slightly mixed !!!! Any road up was going to post pics but was told I have to remove number plates ! so being a technophobe 1st degree I am now grovelling to my good lady to assist with this stay tuned !:-D
  18. Thanks Tony for your reassurance ! Just a bit embarassing being caught drooling over other lucky owners vehicles:nut:
  19. Enduring power of attourney ? had to do it for my Father, he has Alzheimers and is now in care, we just had to have an hour with a solicitor and they did the rest. Not something you do easily and lightly, you will need a second person as notary in case you are outlived etc
  20. Well still looking, there seems to be a lot of GMC CCKWs on the market around my neck of the woods, I know it is far removed from a Reo but they do look nice ! we get a few that visit Aeroventure on special weekends, am i showing spring time eagerness ? do I need medication ?:wow:
