  1. Thanks John, I got the same explanation from one of the lads, took a lot longer to explain as he was busy devouring My bacon Butty!:-(
  2. Not wishing to appear totally behind the door (maybe ajar) is there a section that gives meanings (or Glossary of terms) for certain items in MV parlance as in SWB being short wheel base etc ? as in what does 'tilt' mean on the likes of cckw trucks ? or should I run for the hills now ???:embarrassed:
  3. Yes I had to have a conversation with my Mrs ! it wasn't pleasant ! and when I rang for counselling I was put 'on hold' good to see the site is back quickly though !!
  4. Last day of Lincoln Xmas Market ! how did I wriggle out of that one ???

  6. Thats it then ,I need one to pull some conifers down ! they must be at least 6 feet high...well thats my excuse anyway !:cool2:
  7. Manchester is 'local' in comparison to the numerous trips the lads have made to Sultan (Gosport) and Yeovilton, I can't believe we've just had a team at Kemble helping to strip a Canberra for shipping ! They had their eyes painted on !!
  8. Thanks everyone thus far ! I suppose I ought to get the latest Wrecks and Relics dusted off to get the full list:nut: but why we ask for pics is sometimes just sometimes we can fathom where the odd additional mod has been carried out and as usual not in anyones manual etc etc plus it does help with past history when we do the info boards, mind you that is second nature to you guys !!
  9. Good call ! I had hoped to get some help fro a certain Weston super Mare establishment but to no avail, I know we have photographed all our work as we have stripped down the cockpit section, however whilst in storage damage occurred etc thanks anyway will get onto it tonight;)
  10. Just completing total strip down of a Sycamore cockpit at Aeroventure all down to bare metal and getting ready for re-skinning etc, Anybody got any pics of said Helicopter perchance ? Unbelievably our archives are low on this marque. just wondered if anybody had anything we could beg steal or borrow ?:cool2: This will be a full re-build and will squeeze into the main hangar when complete

  12. The Beverly Transport went to Fort Paull (Humberside) not sure if anything else made it there ? I have just looked through a Visitor guide frm the museum and it states that a number of exhibits were privately owned
  13. OOps attention to detail... I mean't Adrian Scott not Knott:blush: This wonderful specimen was sold some weeks back . I rang Adrian he was very helpful, he was in the middle of harvesting but still took time out to speak to me, anyway I missed the truck by a day ! thanks antarmike for pulling me up on my mistake !!!:embarrassed:
  14. Hello Martin, Looked at your Reo on ebay, thought it would have sold ? anyway we are looking for the old canvas back drop side, like Adrian Knott sold, if I thought I could change the body over then I would snap your hand off:cool2:
  15. Hello Adrian, Just checked with Brother in law his chart shows Aeroshell W80 as aviation equivalent, as in SAE 60 is W100 etc, Being a typical Yorkshireman as is myself First thing he said was "its not cheap you know!" He said it's the same on the Valvoline chart as well Not sure what they have been using in the Stearmans but he will check for you ? if required that is ? BTW I was the Bloke that rang you about your Reo when you were in the middle of harvesting ! many thanks for your guidance !
  16. Welcome to the Forum its absolutely brilliant, top notch Guys on here ! Have been to Volkel a few times for Open Dag Airshows ! Much noisier than ours !!!:-D

  18. Thanks Chaps, I think because I have had a few months to brood over this project, I have fallen into the over eager trap ! I will try and exercise some restraint ! but as soon as I get out of my strait jacket I will be out of my padded cell ! Oh well off to bull up my shoes , off to Edlington Cenotaph tomorow , promised to help wife take 30+ year 2 kids for the Armistice Day Service ! So if anybody knows of a reo M35 multifuel whistler (short wheelbase ? ) not the M54 the 10 ton lwb ? apparently told to steer clear of the 25 footers as have a tendancy to twist out on the drive shafts ? Should I rally post this in the Sale section ? sorry still new to this stuff:blush:
  19. Ok so now I have got Barn space for storage sorted out and agreed rent, stage two ; the hunt for my own wheels ! 20. Thanks Big ray, message received and understood ! assume (never make an ass out of u and me ) however just thought as you guys seem a dedicated lot and have always seen your collections in pristine condition I would be safe in the knowledge that I would be buying a good specimen ! I don't wear rose tinted glasses because I've beeen to specsavers! now I just fall over things !:nut: I hope I have some members local to me that I can call on in the future when I have stashed enough cash in my asda carrier bag !:-D
  21. Hi Andy, Glad you enjoyed your visit, I am sure Bill Fearn and Phil made you welcome ? I hear there were a few sore heads after the bbq ? I couldn't make it was at Salerno re-tracing my Uncles steps from 1943 ! Did you get round XV677 ? we have fitted the Main rotor head and other bits !!! Big paint job next year ! and still chasing the elusive tail rotor head !
  22. Well a member for less than 24 hours and learned an extremely valuable lesson already ! many thanks for your guidance in plating etc, I guess a few 'dreamers' such as myself come along and you have to get them on the straight and narrow ? Well I have my pass signed to go to the 4x4 show at Newark in December Hope to meet some of you Guys there ? and maybe get some help in the future with aquiring either a Reo or even a GMC ? although would be much more comfortable buying from a forum member at least you know the item has been looked after
  23. Thanks for the warm welcome Guys ! ( I am not really a forum type person, mainly because I am a computer technophobe and just get by !!) am a member on a 4x4 specialist site as have an import 4x4 however not as friendly ! Reason for the Reo ? as some of you have visited our museum will know we don't have much WW11 stuff ,lots of memorabilia etc however we do have Jets and lots of Helos, Military vehicles on the increase inc the BARV,and a few Landy variants. I would love to have a GMC CCKW or Dodge Weapons Carrier however the REO would be used to transport display stuff to shows we attend each year ie Waddington Airshow, we are heavily reliant on a small band of volunteers who tow trailer loads of stuff each year so wanted to add to the inventory if that makes sense ? anyway thanks again ! John
  24. Hello Folks, Just a quick introduction My Name is John, I am currently working on Aviation type stuff at Aeroventure Doncaster..However a few weeks ago we had a Military Jeep and Cheerful meet at the museum, met some fantastic Guys with their Military V's including GMC CCKWs the list goes on.. Iwork with a guy called Phil Jarvis, he used to be a member of the local MVT any road up a friend of mine was caught drooling over a Reo Multi-fuel Whistler M35 so the die is cast and our Truck of choice... all we need to do now is Get One ! so brace brace brace questions abound ! thankyou in anticipation !
