  1. Reposting these, cant remember the source. Sporting a PAK on the rear CDSW with crane
  2. Welcome aboard, you dont need an MV to join the fun. (But everyone should have at least 3!)
  3. Its been a while since we have made any progress on the truck itself due to lack of time but things are moving again. Many thanks to Jules for helping out with the fabrication of the engine cover. He very kindly took his engine cover off to be used as a pattern to a coachbuilder who I would highly recommend. I collected it today and I must say the craftmanship is superb, even better than original. Thank you. Much better than I imagined and probably better than the original! Will post pics tomorrow. Now we have the new cover we can begin lining up all the bodywork for the cab. Also got the bonnet number stencil to put on the bonnet today. Thanks to Dave at Axholme Signs.
  4. Fairly sure what seems to be a reserve is on the drives side tank John.
  5. Im sure the first pic is off a website, cant for the life of me remember which one, but it has pics of the Morris armoured car as well.
  6. Amazing what you can do with modern technology for our old bits and pieces. Very impressed.
  7. Some vehicles are marked up with invasion stars on their bonnets for aeriel recognition, were British vehicles marked up with stars of RAF roundels on their bonnet? Did they use both, or were there any rules governing this or were they left to their own devices??:coffee:
  8. I thought the spare wheel was behind the cab on a C8? Im sure Julians is? I stand to be corrected. Spare parts arent that big a problem for the Morris Ive found so far, only getting the body panels fabricated. Brakes are readily available and the engine gaskets, the engine itself seems pretty bulletproof. (Excuse the pun)!
  9. Good pic of the C9, not seen that before. Ive got a load of Beutewagen pics of the Morris, thats a new one on me. Would be great to find plans for the conversion. There must be some , somewhere.
  10. Just found this website which sells lots of old and unusual stuff, not really military , but there are a couple of Wc's for sale on it as well. They dont make 'em like this anymore... http://www.happyoldiron.com/1518109.htm
  11. Yes, quite correct, I was having a bad day!
  12. That desert jeep was on the back cover on the MVT mag Windscreen, last issue. Done in original colours after the owner removed several layers of paint. Was based with the USAAF in the med in WW2, Cyprus I think.
  13. I have to ask....why do you want one of those...?
  14. Good to meet you the other day, nice to know theres another HMVF'er near me, did you take a vehicle to Stoke Goldington?
  15. Where do you get the tech info for tolerances etc?
  16. I have to ask Tim why the Autocar used a lot of oil. Was it bad fitting with the mechanical components or was it designed that way?
  17. Shanklin Chine is wortha visit, its not only a nice way to spend an afternoon but there are remains of the pipe there. Am I right in thinking that part of the PLUTO pipes came out of a building on one of the beaches, the name escapes me now. Militarch is a good website to join Andy, Australian based I think.
  18. After welding a repair patch on the tank we needed to get the filr neckextension out before putting tank sealer in. On the Morris this extend the filler neck out from under the body making it easier to fill the tank, especially from a jerry can. It came out a lot easier on the other tank. This one had seized in the neck completely and required a bit of gentle persuasion from Tim and Stuart to get it out. It meant melting the solder which seals it onto the filler neck, but it had to come out. And it did, eventually...
  19. Yep, nice colour scheme, any more pics of it? How many miles to the gallon.
  20. Im not so sure on the weather!
  21. :-DWhats the limit of your bottom Mark??
  22. Sent the crank off to my local engineer to be worked on this morning. He is asking what the journal size should be and what the bottom limit is. Anyone any idea?
  23. A magazine I suspect GWT has delivered by the milkman. Has an article about the bloke who started the Shuttleworth Collection in this next months issue. http://www.oldglory.co.uk/ft1.htm
