  1. Nice little website, worth a look, lots of vehicles for restoration for sale. http://www.jeep-dodge-gmc.com/idxJDG/index.htm
  2. The trees look far too Christmassy, I reckon Norway.
  3. Headlight is a standar Butler light, they come up often enough on evilbay, or most other places. The top for the fluid container should be fairly straightforward as well. At the moment I cant remember the name of the place I got mine re-conn'ed but they will supply that, will look tomorrow. As for the bend, you may need to get one made up, Ive never seen them for sale.
  4. I looked at the Carriers. Have a look at one in the flesh, they are a bit bigger than I imagined them to be. There was, and still is, a carrier hull with some associated parts near me on Milweb at the moment. The guy wanted a bit too much for it, else I would have been tempted, it wouldnt be worth the amount of money needed.
  5. If anyone spots any Morris C8's let me know! There must be some photos of them in theatre.
  6. I think I posted some similar pics on the Morris Commercial gallery, some early pics there.
  7. It would be interestin to see a blog of your rebuild, especially as they seem to have odd characteristics the unwary should be made aware of. Seems like a very affordable MV, but you need to know the "ins and outs " of it.
  8. Any chance of having an "official" poster we can download so that we can start a collection in our workplace? Just another thought, on ebay you can donate a percentage of your sale to a charity, can you register this as a charity on ebay?
  9. They look like they should carry comething like a PIAT or similar?
  10. From what I know, those awarded the Mercantile Marine were automatically entitled to the War medal.
  11. Im not even sure this is the right J Whyte, but definitely awarded the 2 medals, this is a very early search though. What do the other initials mean on the card. Served on the Mooltan, have the Mercantile Marine and War medal, but do any of them have a mention on this card???
  12. I wonder how much they are asking for them, I assume they must have come from the US somewhere.
  13. Can anyone help with decoding this naval record card, particularly J Whyte 208490 (would that be his service number?)

I must say I was a bit surprised to see mariah carey mentioned in one of the sections!
  15. Doesnt work for me will forward the doc to you Richard.
  16. Right I'll try Normans way but if I get stuck I'll email it you Richard, thanks both.
  17. Sorry , you misunderstood. Ive downloaded the file onto my computer, but I want to post up on here so everyone else can see it. How do I do that?
  18. I need help in deciphering a medal card, but my trusty pc has it saved as a pdf file, just tried to save on to photobucket to post up but its not appearing. Any suggestions?
  19. Thanks all, so I was right in thinking the SS and HMS Mooltan were one and the same. Thanks for the lead CW.
  20. Trying to do a bit of research on fathers side. His grandfather was quite high up in the merchant navy. He served at some point on a ship called Mooltan, but it seems to have changed its title. In some cases referred to as S.S. Mooltan and others as HMS. Why are some called SS, RMS and HMS. Did they get their titles changed at the same time? In the meantime if anyone has any good links on getting merchant navy records etc, could you let me know. Thanks.
  21. In theory, yes. Bear in mind Easter weekend is a busy time for events though, if I were planning something I would look for another weekend. Just a thought...
  22. What happened to the idea of HMVF radio??
