A shame you didn't offer the FV439 on here or the FV430 Forum first - I know some people who might be interested but are put off by the exorbitant 17.5% buyer's fee with VAT on top!

I'm wondering if there's also an issue that the "Facebook Generation" aren't interested in mechanical things anyway. I know several twenty-somethings who treat their cars like iPads and don't understand the concepts of maintenance or servicing.

As the error message says, their website security certificate (the thing that makes "https" work) has expired. I've sent them an email.

From the DVLA website (Google is your friend):
"A rebuilt vehicle can keep its original registration number if you can prove you’ve used:
- the original unmodified chassis or bodyshell (car or light van)
- a new chassis or monocoque bodyshell of the same specification as the original (car or light van)
- the original unmodified frame (motorbike)
- a new frame of the same specification as the original (motorbike)
You must also have 2 other major components from the original vehicle from the following lists.
For cars or light vans:
- suspension (front and back)
- steering assembly
- axles (both)
- transmission
- engine
For motorbikes:
- forks
- wheels
- engine
- gear box"

The obvious question is how the finances would work without public admission fees?

ATS had 255/100R16 XZLs for my RB44 on next day delivery, but you'll need a small mortgage!

I counted five Stollys and no less than seven RB44s. And one Flying Pig!

702kg per side, assuming 90 links and new track pads.

The FV430 CES includes a preset torque wrench for the wheel bolts.

Good point - might be worth checking if they think there's actually something there for you to download!

Judging by the comment about the horn, I'd suspect a poor earth connection somewhere.

I've had problems with both of those on occasions, especially if the site is (legitimately) directing elsewhere. Try a completely bare browser and see if it makes any difference?

Are you running a pop-up blocker or similar?

I normally post photos straight from the Picture folder on my pc, never have any problems. Never used Photobucket, etc. and I know there have been issues before with other members losing pictures of their posts by using that medium.
Unfortunately we still don't seem to have resolved the "unwanted thumbnails" issue when posting direct to the Forum ...

The criteria that the DVLA use for originality when re-issuing a vehicle registration might be a useful benchmark? It's pretty strict!

I wonder what happened to this story and its characters?
Indeed - after massive initial publicity it seems to have gone very quiet ...

It's also worth noting that the solenoid heavy current is fed directly from two terminals on the Distribution Panel, it may be worth checking they're both present and correct?

We don't have a safety section as such in the Forum, so I'll put this here.
The UK Health and Safety Executive have released a warning about an accident with a track adjuster on a (non-military) item of plant where the grease nipple was ejected with fatal results. Just beware if you are using a hand-held grease gun and standing in line with the grease nipple.

A shame you weren't at Tankfest over the weekend, there was one there you could have looked round.
