  1. I dont think it is a firefly because the way the turret is pointing, I would of thought you would see the barrel?
  2. I think its a M4A3 sherman running gear. The turret seems to have a bigger than normal counter weight?
  3. I finished school in 2007 and went straight into engineering. I am in a company called Seetru Ltd based in Bristol working in our design & development facilities. I do both 2D/3D drawings as well as manual turning and milling in our machine shop. Our machine shop comes in handy when restoring vehicals. Iv made bits for my halftrack and also do some tuning work for other people too.
  4. Here are some pictures I took in 2011 at Weymouth veterans weekend. Here Jim Clark and his M4A4 sherman nick named "sloppy but safe" is being lined up to be loaded on a diamond T 981 and rogers trailer. When the sherman goes up the ramps, there is a point where Jim can not see the trailer or the banks-man guiding him on, all he will see is sky. Its not until the sherman gets past its centre of gravity that it comes back down onto the trailer. Here little adjustments can be made to get the sherman square on the trailer or worst case scenario unload and start again. I will point out that the original world war two rogers trailer and a modern low loader trailer are two very different trailers to load onto.
  5. Rob Thanks for telling me about the manual. Needless to say I bought it along with a 37mm anti tank gun manual. Thanks again. Jamie
  6. Hello I dont know if any of you good people can help me? Im looking for a WW2 U.S 4.5" rocket. Drawings, dimensions or even a rocket (if there is one out there) Any help will be very appreciated. Jamie
  7. As trying to find the originals are difficult and expensive, I am currently looking at getting some reproduced. I have a original casting for a pattern, found somebody who is willing to do the castings and myself will do the machining of the castings. Is anybody else out there after a pair? Jamie
  8. Look's really nice, will be great to see escorting us tank boys I wonder if my mum and dad would let me put my restoration project in our living room . . . . . . . . . ?
  9. Hello Commander Do you know much about it such as where it came from? Im guessing its an M5 or M14 International harvester. I would also hazard a guess and say it has a diesel engine fitted? I know these wreaks to well, I have 2 of them myself!
  10. Hello Commander Is this Halftrack yours?
  11. Hello I am going on a trip at the end of the year with the 2nd armoured group. I have an M3 grease gun but am unsure of what would of been used to carry the magazines in? can anyone help shed some light on this please?
  12. Funny enough, the lorry driver who picked it up out the hedge asked if it was going to Sims scrap yard. He thought I was mad buying it to restore. I plan to make a good one out of this one and the other I have. The way iv been looking at it is keeping the cost as low down as I can which so far, I have spent about £3000 on both halftracks I have and 16 NOS boggie wheels coming next month.
  13. Hello Gary Im not very far, the chassis is almost ready for sand blasting. If you leave me your number than I can get in touch. Jamie
  14. Hello GaryI am restoring an M5, I have 2 halftracks both M5 and M14 and im making 1 good one out of 2. I sent you a PM about this. I may be able to help if you need a back floor? I do have an original out on the floor if you need dimensions ect to reproduce one. I have a few pictures of both halftrack. Hope this is of help?
  15. HelloThese are some pictures I have posted before on a Autocar thread but my granddad own 5 Autocar's and my uncle owns one. My granddad has a 5 tonne steel cab tractor unit and 4 2.5 tonne Autocar tractor units. My uncle owns a 2.5 tonne Autocar fuel tanker..
  16. [h=2] Re: Rare Vehicles[/h] (Hi i own an m4 high speed tractor it would be good to find out how many are left i know of 3 others in various states in the uk) Hi, I know of at least 6 - 8 of M4 HSTs in the UK, 3 of which is going to Armour and Embarkation next year. My Grandad owns 4 2.5 tonne Autocar tractor units which are the only 4 to be known to exist in Europe.
  17. If you are stuck for finding one, if I had the original or dimensions along with a picture, I could make you one as I am a manual machines and have access to a centre lathe. Jamie
  18. Hello Richard Yes I have, im using the M5 halftrack chassis. It still needs a little work but nothing like the M14 one. The M14 chassis is scrap, it is so far gone its not worth investing the time and money in doing it. As you can tell by the pictures in have stripped what was left of the M5 down to its chassis. I have a few more thing to remove before repairing the front end and sandblasting. The front axle and springs are off now, im going to take the running gear off too before sandblasting, then its clean bits up and start rebuilding and hopefully do a few shows next year as a running chassis. Jamie
  19. I know this thread was created a while ago now but I have 2 very rough Halftracks (M5 and M14) that i am making a good one out of the two. Halftrack 1 (M14) Halftrack 2 (M5)
  20. Here is a few pictures of the uniform. The pictures at the best.
  21. Hello Thanks for your help. I do think it is a genuine original uniform. From what I been told, some of the insignia on it you would struggle to find now, and if you did, they wouldn't be cheep. I have had a few people look at it, and some of the history I got with the uniform about this guy all ties up. The information I got came from his granddaughter. John trained on Sherman tanks in the states and landed on D-Day+1. He fought in France and was taken out of Sherman's and put on Buffaloes and did the Rhine crossings. He has been awarded the purple heart at some point too. I will try and get a picture of it on here tonight.
  22. I recently bought i class A uniform at war and peace this year and would like to try and trace the owner or family of the owner. His name was John Stanley Edison and his serial number 35214897. I will attach some pictures of the uniform soon. Any help or information would be much appreciated.
  23. To be honest I don't know? The guy that had this halftrack on his land got loads of stuff but he don't actually own a great deal of it. It was there the first time I went to see the halftrack. It was pushed into the field and left, I think in had engine or gear box problems. When I went back over Friday to pick the halftrack up, it was gone.
  24. There are some good bits on it, its just a shame it has been left outside and uncovered for the last 20 odd years.
