  1. the gpa is the original tub I have done a lot of work on it as you can see
  2. place the impute shaft with bearing on the jaws of a vice so the impute will pass between the jaws having removed the snap ring and with a copper mallet drive the impute down it will come off easy when you fit the new bearing only press on the centre part off the new bearing so not to side load the ball race cam put up some photos tomorrow if you need all the best jerry
  3. us navy jeeps were still painted green under the wings ,frame , engine bay even under the seat cushions they only painted on the outer surface some times the frame and running gear was painted black and this was when the navy rebuilt it themselves also it would have the tie down rings on f bumper and back cross member and two cow horn two hook just behind the f bumper on the frame find a photo of my usmc jeep for placement of tie downs and cow horns all the best jerry
  4. Had a mad weekend in the sun shine with the blaster took 2 full days to clean the GPA body and some other parts a willys frame plus axles,body tub,wings,seats and more also worked on the next jeep early grill and air filter
  5. working on the engine this week coming together just need some final small parts I am looking for the early dip stick and filler tube any one got one up for sale or can swop for the later type
  6. usmc mz2 radio jeep very hard to get the wheel spacers it was a mc conversion however they did not have mud guards but you have to for the roads also I fitted a original wooden screen cover also mc only all the best stay safe jerry
  7. cheque the oil seals on output to props also cheque oil seals on shift leavers could be just the gaskets have gone hard and leak if it was me I would pull the g/box out and go through it its the only way to stop the leaks
  8. gear box and t.case fitted together prop shafts on next will strip down the engine and will need to get 5 tyres

  10. working on the g/box and t/case sat the gear box in the frame just to get it out of the way, nice early g/box fill plug on the inside but what a pain to fill next bolt together props on then its the engine rebuild keep working on your jeeps and post your photos
  11. striped down the g/box and t/case today don't need much a few bearings and thrust washers and a good clean and paint then reassemble also I was given some old springs ford and willys and spent a day restoring them finished them off with new bushes ready for next project
  12. you need to fit the m31c otherwise the gun will rip the floor out of your jeep also weld the brackets to the frame for the two back legs I can post photos of the brackets that are on an original willys frame that I am going to restore for myself
  13. Had a day off today and took one of the jeep out for VE DAY it was good to be behind a gpw steering wheel keep safe all the best jerry
  14. yes that's one for me, finished the jeep frame today its had its last coat of paint got the gearbox out to strip down tomorrow and order any parts needed stay safe and keep restoring them jeeps
  15. get a clarke 110e wig welder shop part code 101110111 have told you don't get a gasless one you will never be able the run a weld and if you do it will look like a pile of bird shit stick to gas most welding supply's shops can supply you with a exchange gas bottle
  16. spent the morning on the jeep rebuild pintle hook, back hub, and front axle brakes
  17. some one has welded up the hood block holes and the tinning on the leading edge of the hood is for the grill to hood bond strap nice to see the original lube chart holder keep going
  18. It is a very early first production ford gpw as ford plant that built the frames was not working they got frames from the company that made for willys however ford stamped them up in the usual ford place
  19. Have been working on the next jeep over the last week some photos for you of the front axle and rebuilt steering box will get the hubs on tomorrow steviem get your self a mig 120 and a gas bottle with .6 wire don't get a gasless one they are s**t and you will regret it
  20. I have replaced the 2 panels a number of times and the top hat section on the inside its not hard to do I have been fitting new crown wheel and pinion in 4 axles keep up the good work and keep safe
  21. got the back axle rebuilt new bearings in pinion and crown wheel bolted the springs and brake pipes fitted next hubs and front axle will put up photos when done
  22. spent yesterday stripping down both axles only to find both need new bearings and the crown wheels and pinons resetting have also fitted the back strings and brake pipes some new parts turned up and some of the scrap left over all the best keep safe in your workshop jerry
