  2. Nice to see you back Richard, you still coming to the show 19th and 20th and if so will you be bringing your "Angel" along or have you not told her about your green machine fetish yet.

  3. Typical, my Ferret and Lightweight played up all the time we were at the Plain, but were fine all the way there and all the way back! We all had a great time, pity we couldn't stay longer. We've got some great photos, but I'm tired and I think if I leave it any longer before a bath the dust will turn to concrete!

Nice to see you all enjoyed yourselfs. I thought you was all staying sunday night as well and returning Monday.

  4. Hi ian the post code is EN6 5QJ which is Potters Bar iam walking distance to junction 24 of the m25 and as i said can meet at a train station or if people tell me where is easier for them i would try and meet them there all the best kyle

Right this should be easier, Is there anyone coming from up North using the M1 - A1 - A10 - M11 that will be passing near to J24 on the M25 and that has a spare seat or room in the boot for Kyle.

  5. That fits in perfectly, did you measure it up or was this by chance?

Never measured it just luck it fitted on the drive.

No matter how close Ian can park to his house, he is still a splitter.......where has the poor old Bedford gone - chucked out like an old dog  :?

The Bedford is stored undercover and safely locked away as will the Dodge once I clear a space.

And don't think you can get into WW2 shows that easily.......it will take a year or two get the PW out of your veins before you are excepted

Sorry Jack but if I was broken in half like a stick of Southend rock it would read POST WAR, will have to get a disguise for the WW2 events.

  6. That's a smart lookin' RLW Ian2b. I drove those beauts with the T.A. and they were a pleasure to drive, except I always banged my "funny bone " when changing into second. As a boy soldier in the 70's with the R.A. we had a type that had a door fitted on the side of the rear body, what was that for? Anyone any idea?

Cheers George, I do like my RLW and it was my first military vehicle. As for banging my arm when changing gear I dont have that problem but my arms are not to long so that could be why.

Nice to see you and the others are getting stuck into the jeep restoration and do keep the pics coming.

  7. Yeh.....and we used to rebuild the engines after they blew up ;-)

Actually, Ian, you could adjust the governer slightly, they are a flap or butterfly in the bottom of the carb and can restrict hill climbing somewhat. The adjustment is done under the domed cap held by two screws and a lead seal.

Cheers Richard will check that out next time i have the vehicle out.

  8. You need to see a guy called S/Sgt Albert Pepper from 215 Sqdn RCT(VR) -he sorted al our RL's for us. So much so that, empty it was a case of hills. what hills and a couple would reach the dizzy indicated speed of 70mph :schocked: :schocked:

Mines not to bad empty but could do with some extra go when towing something or loaded. Still if anything goes wrong with the current engine then i will think about a diesel.

  9. No, although thats not far off what Mike got from his petrol engined WLF (french army manual quoted 1litre per km). We now get aout 12+mpg with the Cummins C series diesel engine, and it goes up hills without going through the gears.

Maybe I should ask Mike to fit a diesel in my bedford as I only get about 8 mpg and crawl up some hills in Kent.
