  1. I parted company with the army 30 years ago today. I was eighteen and had wanted to be a soldier as far back as I could remember. Alas a number of misfortunes in childhood affected my health and I was illequipped for the enterprise. I got in OK but things went from bad to worse and I ended up back in grey old London full of regrets which have never completely gone away. I think about it almost every day, but life has it's way of making up for losses. Coming out lead me to get myself self-educated and eventually to make best use of my alleged talents. Que sera sera.

Well on the upside Mark at least you followed your dream and joined the army for how ever long it was. How much worse would you have felt if you had never joined up and missed your chance to at least experience army life.

  2. Hi Ian.

Thanks for your post. I think it is a simple as that some of the details just need confirming so I pulled it until I have confirmation that everything is correct.

    Cheers

Are you doing the Canvey run next weekend (14th)?? Been meaning to phone Phil and Stu - but my mobile went secondary mammaries up last Sat, only got it back sem-functional this evening... So much for linux based phones.......

Yes will be doing the Canvey run along with the others. Lee, John, Stu will be coming from the fort and meeting myself and some others on the way.

  6. Now then Ian - you know full well us JW weirdos with the horns and tails don't do the celebrating birthdays and Xmas thingies.... :-D

But - had you said it missed our wedding anniversary (1/10) you'd have been nearer the mark!! :-D :-D :-D

    Totally forgot that Neil.

(Note to self - don't send Neil a Christmas card)

  7. Very true Tony!!!! :-D

More news tonight - heard from Richard at Russian Trucks, mine is in the next batch being deliverd. He's looking at getting the transport underway on the 18th October. Apparently they had a big order to ship out to the USA which has put them a week or so behind.

We're getting there folks, we're getting there !!!!

So not in time for your birthday then Neil, will have to be a christmas present then - so no opening it early

  8.

Whilst down at Pirbright information was received that Lee (safariswing) was hiding something in his sleeping bag so I passed this info onto Harry (stealthymarksman) and along with my son Ash they decided to investigate and was very surprised at what they found. Harry has since had counselling to get over what he had seen and is expected to make a full recovery.

No cushion where hurt in the taking off these pictures

  9. Thats not far off what the spokes women said in my link,

    http://the2008olympics.blogspot.com/2007/09/red-arrows-banned.html

The Red Arrows spokesman Rachel Huxford said:

"We have had no discussions about the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics whatsoever.

We are still planning our 2008 season at this stage and that is a long way off. We understand that no decision has yet been made about the ceremony.

If they are worried about them being to British why not paint them Pink im sure that would look very nice

Just checked the link and is working for me Lee :dunno:

  10. With reference to Paying to get in to W&P, i feel that paying to get in is probably a bit off!

Correct me if Im wrong but I thought the charges at W&P were for the on site services like Rubbish clearance, Hot showers, extra toilets, Security and anything else I have forgotten. Alot of MV owners are on site alot longer than the show runs for.

I know not everyone pays to enter W&P and re-enactors get in free but they do spend alot of time displaying to the public and put in alot of hard work.

    Just my thoughts

  11. I've got an Epson RX620 and can recommend this. It seems to do everything. Only problem I get is that I have some old 1940s 'Film Strips' which I would like to get copies of, but they don't fit the printer like 35mm does. Anyone got any suggestions?

I have got the Epson RX620 as well and can highly recommend it. I know what you mean about anything smaller than 35mm I to have some older pics which i could do with copying.

  12. Last night got called out to pick up my new girly from a party and the landrover went well, but upon getting home i stupidly turned the lights from on! on convoy tail! and did not notice!

So this morning upon trying to start the batteries were near dead and not able to fire the engine! and not able to get the new lovely lady to work! oops!

Paul fit a battery isolator switch then at least everything is turned off. Unless you forget to use the isolator.

  13. Just moved it for a bit Ian whilst I consider what to do with it - I had a telephone conversation today........... :|

Shame really as all I was trying to do was to get a 'no strings' attached benefit for HMVF members - there you go, you live and you learn.

    Thanks for the reply Jack,

It sounds to me like you have been getting more hassle from people/clubs/companys and all you was trying to do was get us HMVF members a good deal on our insurance. Thanks for trying anyway.
