  1. Brilliant!!

I think we are all impressed that the weekend went so well in its entirety and the small bit that the Ferrets played can only show the hobby in a good light with the general public.

Kudos to the owners who played a part as well!

Pictures please a video would be nice as well

  2. Really do hope everything is sorted out for the 2013 season.

So do I I'll have a bit more info next weekend

shame it's cancelled i was looking forward to it myself.

what kind of excuse is asbestos contamination anyway ? the health and safety brigade ruins another good day out

Nod head up and down at that one shake fist so on so forth!

  3. passed this again today , seen it a few times in the last couple of years, shame its rotting away.

Hinges on turret hatch rusted solid not getting inside any time soon

  4. at least it's attemping to be preservered! Looks like it's been blasted without time to paint. If they knew how difficult the wings are to get they would have painted it. Don't suppose anyone can duck their head in and take a photo of the data plate :-)

I tried when I saw it no joy

  5. ps. i'm looking for the felt fuel filter element as mine is goosed so any help would be appreciated. cheers

Do you have a picture of the element or housing? As its an early Meteor engine would an early Merlin filter element fit? If yes maybe the place to ask for a filter element is an aircraft forum?

  6. Interesting. The fingers will squash together? When I looked at them this morning I could only get movement outwards , I will try with something more than finger force but still be gentle.

Once the assembly is free it doesn't take much force.

The handbrake has to be off for it work!!

  7. Levers of wheel cylinder and the tappets/actuators I need to spread out somehow to get wheel cylinder in. Any ideas of a tool/technique to use to get things spread out?

If I read it correctly you want to refit the wheel cylinders into the backplate? As long as the wheel cylinders are now free squash the fingers with water pump pliers or a G clamp and then refit to the backplate. You can test if the cylinders are working by having an assistant press the brake pedal which will then open the fingers. To close them the assistant removes his/her foot from brake pedal and you squash the fingers back together with the water pump pliers.

  8. ....simply !

All joking apart a restoration is not quick if you want the result to be something that you would be happy showing to everyone.

Lets face it its a potential front cover for CMV and Bob would want his work to be seen in the best light

  9. The story first came out mid April, and since it was made public, the aircraft has slowly been damaged by locals 'exploring' and taking souvenirs. A real shame, windows smashed for a better view of the cockpit, bullet proof glass 'tested' several times, and who knows what else taken for souvenirs and scrap value.

That is a shame it just goes to prove that not all publicity is good!

  10. fuel tanks look good and we'll get them professionally cleaned before they go back in. as for the rest of it it's simply a process of putting it all back where it came from, trouble is we need more hands on the job and i can only really do the weekends so i'm not much help but i'll see if i can't get something sorted.
