Crown Oil usually pesters me at least once a month on my answerphone. When I wanted something last weekend they couldn't be bothered ringing me back.... Go figure that one out!
-
Having just seen a video of Black Prince being towed around the arena at Tankfest I take it something happened to stop the vehicle being run on its own steam this year. Was it mechanical or lack of spare parts that stopped it running?
-
Its in really nice condition though, i have been looking for one just like that for years now.
As for mine its old spec so i can strip it down and it looks good in till you check the numbers so will be fine on the rack at shows so it will do what i want it to and its a learning experience
Cheers everyone
Shaun
My one is an early spec deac bought from a colleague of my better half Janine, it came with the Hyth sight, plastic furniture and extra mags. Right time right place and a smattering of luck.

Have a look at my one UB61 A140860 it wasn't expensive but it screwed me on a deal that I had for Ferret parts which in the long run will cost me more.
-
Funny no where else could you actually get away selling something that it isn't but in the military world. Which dealer did you buy it off so that we can avoid them with a barge pole.
-
sorry but this is not an in service photo of 02DA45, its a 35mm b&w I did when I had this ferret.
the photo was taken in my yard in Herefordshire around 1998, I do still have the photo.
Phil
Hi Phil,
I'll pull it at some point then

The only weather forecast I believe is the one that I see when I stick my head out of the front door. Works every time :nut:

@all
thanks for your answers. Unfortunately I am located in Germany. So it´s not too easy to get to Bovington.
@ferrettkitt
Yes you can use the picture on your website.
By the way you can add 33 BA 24 as runner then.
Uwe
Sweet many thanks its appreciated

Hydrochloric Acid I would Imagine.
Part of a series of chemical imersions, paint strip, rust removal, passivation bath... this is who I used:
http://www.surfaceprocessing.co.uk/
My Cousin is the MD.
I dropped off a batch, including all the engine parts, the torque tube and since the project started they have done several loads, as yet I have not media blasted anything, but I will be in the near future as I was given a blasting cabinet and a pot blasting setup by a friend.
Nice that's a great way of stripping paint and rust

I was planning a satin finish. You all know she has a special history for me, so I do want her to be that bit more elegant than the normal. I can get enough of the Duluck's Metalsheild to cover her for about £56, the colour is a good match and the stain finish easier to look after than plain matt.
Matt paint is a pain it shows all those oily fingerprints

Thanks Guys.
I sent an e-mail to Military muckabouts, They have said they can make a replica for me but need pictures to go off, I sent them a good pic of the barrel but I need one of the Buffer Housing.
Let me know if you get anywhere with it maybe you could ask if anyone else wants a GPMG for the turret lower the price bulk buy? I would be up for one if I'm really flush maybe two :-D
-
How was the engine 'pickled'? Stupid question but one has to ask
-
Chris is correct its buy when you see the parts otherwise its gone into someone elses stockpile and yes some CES has gone to the scrapman. I had some I didn't know what it was posted it up on here got no answer as to what it was and scrapped it.

Life never stands still so why should the MV movement do the same?
-
Just make sure that the paint won't wipe completely away with whatever you use. My RB44 has paint on it that can be wiped away with a petrol soaked rag. Paint on vehicle supplied by MOD presume its some kind of IRR paint, funnily enough only the cab is sprayed in this useless stuff the body has a much better quality of paint on it. :nut:

I will probably be organising another Post War British Armour Convoy this year & it would be good to get as many Ferret's as possible up front leading the convoy.. it will probably be Thursday evening, will have to finalize things during the week..
Sounds good to me. What about something for the arena? Not Sat or Sun midweek would be better?
-
Has anyone thought about having a get together for the Ferrets at W&P this year? Its probably the place where the largest number of Ferrets will be this year...
I'm not talking about this kind of level of show nor to music either but we might be able to ask Barry for something like at W&P
-
Andy, I think these are the guy's you saw at War&Peace. http://www.military-muckabouts.webs.com/
I sent them an email to find out if they do the l37 variant for the turret. will post up what they say.
In the meantime I would love to see some pic's of how the GPMG fits into the mount.
Sweet I'll be looking them up at W&P thanks for finding the link :-)
-
Bet it was still a runner wonder if it has made it into preservation or succumbed to the scrapman
-
unf---ing believable
this is a Matilda tank being cut up for scrap in Labuan
apparently a few have been pulled up....
Only good part is there may be a few left

I see a major road trip in the future for Rick and yes unf***ing believable hits the right tone

I run two different browsers on my laptop Chrome and IE, I tend to use Chrome more but IE has some advantages in that it will save logging in details for a site that Chrome won't. You could use Firefox or Chrome just for HMVF, save the blood boiling moments for the things that matter
-
Something different on the show scene not just the usual gun tank like it a lot
Who will be bring a bridge layer to W&P?
-
Oil leak by any chance if its British and its not leaking it has no oil in it.
-
You could have the base laser cut so no need to use an angle grinder all you need to know is the where the largest hole starts from (a datum point) across the x and y axis. I'll echo everyone else's thoughts that its worth shelling out for.
