  1. Hi All For the avoidance of doubt and to dispel some misinformation out there. All vehicles of this type now need an MOT, the only exemptions are, pre 1960 not used commercially and STG (the big specials). No other! Forget what it was based on. I have pursued this with DVSA and they are quite clear that there are no other exemptions. Since the rolling 40 year rule for vehicles under 3.5 t it may be possible to make an online declaration (I did but I had an MOT), but it would be a false declaration and they are aware the system is allowing this. Be careful folks Iain
  2. I can just about remember massive ships engines coming out of Kincaid's in Greenock for Scotts or Lithgows shipyards towed by these units. It would be late 60's I suppose but they used Pickford's with Scammell tractors. I'm sure there must be pictures of them around. To a kid they looked absolutely enormous. Iain
  3. For sale, a set of 5 wolf wheels in hardly used condition fitted with unused 7.50 R 16 Mitchelin XZL tyres. I got these to use on my Perentie but they just would not be correct. looking for £600. I can put them on a pallet if required. Iain
  4. For sale a MOD reconditioned Land Rover LT85 gearbox with transfer box, still in a crate. As used in V8 110's and Snatch. Bought when I had a Snatch Land Rover it's now in the way. Offers invited. Iain
  5. Not Mk 3 recovery, it's LV7FW/2530-99-801-7787 Iain
  6. I am unlikely to ever attend due to distance so this is a welcome peek at what is happening. Many thanks.
  7. Totally agree Bob, It's this sort of poorly researched fakery that causes bad feeling and this isn't the place for it. Take a deep breath Paul, it will be over soon hopefully and life will go on.
  8. Thanks again Ian That makes sense now, it was the manufacturing date that confused me. Not that I know anything about Larkspur. Iain
  9. Thanks Ian What do you mean by frame? looking at the manuals for various PRC they have one bag for all the bits and bobs, no mention of spare batteries etc. Also this is very different from the other Clansman accessory bags with no carry straps and a clip on the front face like a webbing main pack. Iain
  10. Thank you! I have loads of what I suppose are later pattern accessory bags but just one of this type. Good to know Cheers Iain
  11. I have this bag that looks like it's part of 58 webbing but I have no idea what it's for, maybe radio batteries? Does anyone recognise it? many thanks for looking. Iain
  12. Gone are the days when you could speak to the person responsible and explain things face to face. The push for centralisation for a "more efficient service to customers" so often seen with public bodies means you will never have contact with the responsible person. Meaning they don't have that incentive to actually provide a customer orientated service and can hide behind bureaucracy. Having said that, it also means I don't have to travel to get to the (Long gone) local DVLA office, swings and roundabouts I suppose. It will be worth it when you are all sorted. Iain
  13. Surely a V5C is all you need to get plates made?
  14. Perfect Gaz, Always good to find these local sources and they will come in handy for other things I'm sure. Cheers Iain
  15. Here are pics of all the markings,no part numbers but manufacturers indents. It would be easier to get ones that fit from a local supplier, at least they will then have certs. I hope that helps.
  16. No problem Gaz Sadly it's not a workshop but a repurposed comms shack and was just an open space with a bench down one side. I have fitted shelves and use it as a store. The corner brackets I had initially thought were for antenna but they all seem to have them and they are strong, I think they are for legs for free standing the container. Maybe someone who has used them or is knowledgable will let us know. Iain
  17. Yes that's the ones Gaz. I find them easier to use anyway and you would need a spreader bar for the side lift points. You can get away without one easier using the end shackles. It so happens I lifted and moved one yesterday and although it was still loaded with around half a ton of stuff(maybe more) it was no problem. Disclaimer,(just in case) All relevant health and safety stuff was taken into account and the risk assessment and lift plan approved. Tested and rated lift gear( as much as I could), trained and competent operator. Carried out in a controlled and contained environmental using eco friendly fuel and an inclusive and diverse Eco crew.
  18. Yes, they are 1/2 UNC. M12 x 1.75 are a close but not correct fit. Iain
  19. Glad to help Gaz. I have to confess that I have used the shackles on the ends to lift on occasion, using wood planks to protect the structure. I'm not sure that they are rated for lifting but it worked ok.
  20. Here you go Gaz. Two locating pins at the top with 3 bolt holes at the bottom. SWL 2915lb By Arbil. Hope that helps Iain
  21. Zis-3 Robin, it's a field gun. Thanks to the interweb...
  22. Try these https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/Belts-V-Belts/c4601_4790/index.html The part number from the book is;. A1/13518. NSN. LV7FW/3030-99-873-9684. Or measure an old one and be sure to ask for a matched set. I hope that helps. I have a set nos, but they come with a recon engine 😉 Iain
