  1. We will know for defenately how many we have nearer the show, and will organise the meeting time then It will be one evening about 6pm (ish) that's when the magazine photographers will be free for us. So probably (depending on when stolly owners are going) nearer to the show weekend, for example thursday or Friday evening, as some owners come for a few days, some come for longer. we have to organise it around everyone.
  2. 7 stollys now! :cool2: Numbers are increasing slowly.
  3. :nut: Yes, but would cost a hell of alot more in fuel! I could just see their faces as I sail into Dover! Would be fun though! :cool2:
  4. Hi all, Im taking my stalwart this year to W&P show, my friend said he can take me to ostende with his low loader, then I can drive down from ramsgate to the show ground. So he needs to do 4 journeys (home to ostende and back, then again when I return home) I looked into the cost to take a low loader accross with the ferry! Ouch! :wow: I also looked to hire a truck (from my work) but I need it one day to get there, 0ne day back, then it will be parked up for two weeks in between, so I only need it for two days, they said 2 days is no problem, but not to park it up between! (while it's parked it's not being hired, and not making them money) So, I was thinking, is anyone else going accross with a half full low loader, from belgium or near by, or passing through, that way we could share costs, (better for both of us) :-D Thanks regards shaun
  5. Well I am looking forward to the new venue, a change is a good thing. I mailed Rex with some concerns and views from what I see at the old show/site, he is such a nice chap, took all on board, said they are changing some things, implementing others etc noted my ideas/concerns. I know they can't please everyone, but they do a good job so let's give them encouragement, and wish them the best. I know some of you will complain its further, it's normal, I suppose I would also, but I use it as my main holiday, where else can you go camping, have so much fun, and drive round in your vehicle etc, Im sure I know of no camp site you can do that. And it's not that expensive, plus we get to catch up with old friends. Yes granted it is nearer for us, but I would still go if it was 100 mile further away, it is a great show, and should be even better now they can start afresh! we wish them lots of luck. see you all there Regards shaun
  6. Hi all, I have been in touch with Rex to ask his permission if we could officially hold an anniversary meet for the stalwarts 60th He was all for it, and such a nice chap to deal with. The magazine photographer will be there also, we could be able to have a magazine feature! :cool2: As the new site also has a lake, it may be possible to dip our wheels also! Where did I put my boyancy aid! I have asked on the stolly forum to see who is going, I thought I would also ask here (as some stolly owners may not be on the forum) So let us know if you are going with your stolly and joining in, we can see how many we will have, the actual day we do it will be arranged nearer to the show. So far we have 6 stolly's, it would be great to see more. it will be similar to what the champ club recently did, I think they had about 80 champs, I don't think there is that many working stolly's left. But we could do quite a few, and it will hopefully be the most stollys together since de-mob. :wow: Its a nice anniversary year, so try to come Thanks all, will be looking forward to seeing you all, and your stollys! Regards shaun
  7. Thanks guys, It was a fun packed day, we went down with this mk1 and another mk2, no worries with the mk1, but on the way the mk2 (now fitted with a Bedford engine) disintegrated its water pump about 5 mile from the lake. so I shot off back to his workshop with him so he could pick up the spare pump, the mk1 continued to the lake. New pump fitted, set off again, then another mile down road, the accelerator slave cylinder let go!!!!! He Should have converted it to cable! :nut: I think he will now! So at least dave could test his in the water! Ross, I also have not done too much to mine lately, been busy working on the house (have to keep the missus happy) But over winter and the new year I will try to get her all ship shape! Boom, boom! ready for the show season. in May, we have a big show organised, and the plan is to swim them in the lake/river nearby! :-D Should be fun! Cheers shaun
  8. went for a bit of a swim with dave and linda. a long story and adventure that day, :-D but she got her wheels wet and swam!
  9. Hi all, My friend has a iltis and is looking for a clutch, does anyone know a good place to get one? If I am correct, I think they are the same as the early Audi 100? They have been told its a LUK 621 200 900 if this is correct or not????? Thanks for all your help in advance cheers shaun
  10. That buzzer is fitted to the leyland drops!
  11. We have a mk3 in the collection, need to change the motor! But they are great little machines. Looks like you have a nice garden there, and a little pond to swim it in! :-D:-D Cheers shaun
  12. I know this is a old thread, but my mate has just been visiting me and we were chatting all things stolly and military vehicles, and got on the subject of tony mason, I used to have two program's I taped from the telly, one was the heavy vehicles playing in the quarry at Avon dassett, the other was (as seen in those pictures above) with mario and Andrew, tony mason was driving/swimming the stolly. can I for the life of me find the video tapes! :embarrassed: So I did a you tube, google search and came up with nothing, does any one know the program's I'm on about, and have a link to a video, I'm sure I have seen them on the net! Going back to mario, I have pictures and video's when I was a younger, early nineties at mamby show, at the heavy vehicle trials, and also in the mud pit! I will try to upload them onto the tube! Thanks all for any help. cheers shaun
  13. Hi all, Yes William (my cvrt display partner! Long story, at another show) and the guys at the museum do a great job, and have got some nice vehicles. This year the cvrt's will be on display at wings and wheels show, ursel. http://www.wingsandwheels.be/ If you fancy a weekend away, and try some Belgium beer in the party tent on Saturday! Cheers shaun
  14. Totally amazing, will look better than new when finished. As long as you won't be scared of driving it once completed. :nut: Cheers shaun
  15. Hey Alastair, Wow that lot will give you a huge grin! Bet you are on cloud nine. Nice things like that give you a huge boost towards the work. Well done great work Cheers shaun
  16. You realise how big the show ground is from the view up there. And also how small the arena is! Cheers shaun
  17. They are unimog 411 The first mog, basically built for agriculture, then used for military. my friend has the same, (not military version) it will go anywhere, but don't expect to break any sound barriers! :-\ Cheers shaun
  18. Hi Andy, According to the parts catalogue, the part numbers are as follows :-D Cat numb Item name. Item description LV6MT10/2520-99-811-8731. PLATE CLUTCH. Pressure plate side LV6MT10/2520-99-811-8730. PLATE CLUTCH. Flywheel side Hope that helps, if they are these let me know, I'm looking for a spare set, keep missing the ones on flea bay. Cheers shaun
  19. You can never please everyone, no matter what you do. I would go, but this year due to work commitements I cant make it, (I'm peed off) I would still go, mud or no mud. You never hear them say "stop the war, it's too muddy" :wow: But for the ones there, some are having fun, like dave and Linda, pulling stuck people out with thier stolly! One thing I wish they would do, is make a circuit, I.e. one way from Americas field, then if you want to drive back you have to go through the other field, and back round (obviously they need another bridge) would save some queues. (just my 2 penneth worth) Cheers shaun
  20. Thanks for that Paul, I have another to add to the list, Noye from Swindon. Full swimmer. The list is growing, hope you have enough space for us! Cheers shaun
  21. Hi Paul, What was the dates for the Evesham show? I have 2 more stolly owners showing interest, but depending on the date, as they also have another show to do the same month. Cheers shaun
  22. Hi all, Yes that sound like fun, we can go for a swim on the river then go for some tea and scones! (you have to say that part in a posh accent) :cheesy: Pencil me in. I was also planning to go to W&P with her next year, so you say we can park there, how secure is it to leave them there till W&P? As it would be so much easier and cheaper than having to come all the way back over here to just return again the following month! Cheers shaun
  23. Paul, I always thought they should have a lake at beltring, they have enough land, The patch of water to the side of the arena is just a tad small! They could also use it for other shows! Cheers shaun
  24. I have had interest from a certain military magazine, for doing a feature of the event, so your stolly could appear in a magazine. :cool2: Wherever we hold the event, I have to come over with a low loader, so normally I will pick up another stolly on route! (if my Belgium friend has not finished his by then) it's a fair few miles for me, so I will also need to save a few quid for the journey etc. so to cut costs its a good idea to team up and transport 2 at same time. Cheers shaun
  25. So, an update. I have had no success from most places, at first they are interested, then they realise it's going to be a load of big trucks driving round and they back out, or they are now nature reserves. Had no luck with MOD, tried a few different people, and places. The only one who has replied possative is the site in kirton in Lindsey, they have off road area, a lake to swim, camping, parking for low loaders, cafe, toilets etc. We are also just trying another site in Kent, see what they say. The problem when you organise an event like this, you will always have some losers and some winners when it comes to distance to location, the kirton site looks to be favourable, it's middle ish, so easy for people to come from north and south, i have to travel about 800km myself. So we will see what else turns up, I will keep you informed. Cheers shaun
