1. Well, if I were to get two months off work and a lump sum of say..£3k it would be possible, but with the amount of time that I have in hand to dedicate to the Loyd the poor think hasn't a chance in hell of being ready for at least another couple of years.

We now know what your Santa wish is :D

What other bits are you missing now?

  2. Seems my Acmat is one of the original 6 that were purchased for the Somalia trip and in a RHD option are quite rare. Mind you the survival rate of the ex Irish ones seem quite good out of the first 6 appears fairly good.

    - Protacman has 2 (scrapped one to make the dual cab) in Ireland

    - One went to Germany

    - Thunderbird in Ireland

    - mine in UK

I 'assume' this is the list of the original 6, which means only one has gone

  3. you can buy most as reproductions on ebay

From what I have read, for the UK they are not a legal requirement as the chassis number is on the chassis and the engine number is on the engine. But I have seen them marketed with the comments "avoid any hassles next MOT"

Oddly enough many of the repro plates I just saw online were from the US. Odd as there has been a recent crackdown on a cottage industry of importing newer Land Rovers with old plates

  4. G'day. I just sent a PM as I have a lot of the Lightweight books on my hard drive.

The only concern I would have with taking the oil cooler off is snapping the connectors off. I would use preferably the flared nut spanners. If clean, excess oil can drain into a bucket and pour it back in afterwards.

Not sure about the hand throttle as mine didn't have one that I recall, do you have a picture? Is it a 3 or a 2A?

  5. A Saurer for 780 euro....... the rough one on the trailer http://www.leboncoin.fr/utilitaires/589406676.htm?ca=16_s Still like the look of them

I hope I am not boring anyone, I just post these as I find some to be unusual or interesting whilst I am digging through French sites looking for Acmat parts

I never seen one of these before Chevrolet k43 g7173 telephone http://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/584709737.htm?ca=16_s Would this be a post war mod or in-service?

  6. Well the new V5 arrived at my office in the UK, still got some wrong details on it but apathy is setting in. At least its in my name and Sorn'd.

Next trip to UK, via Paris is scheduled in for the 10th to 19th of January. Dropping by Paris to look to meet up with an Acmat enthusiast/garage owner to discuss some parts.

Still picking up parts as they turn up....

    Acmat compressor coupling.jpg

    Acmat engine mount.jpg

    Acmat hub nut.jpg

    Acmat wiper arms.jpg

    Also picked up:

    - a second AMU (Italy)

    - a second antenna (Israel)

    - 2 antenna tie downs (US)

    - 2 new mirrors from (UK)

  7. I'm thinking of making "Enigma is cool" pennats, flags and mugs for my (HMVF) fanclub.:coffee:

can you put me down for the matching his and hers set? :cool2:

Mike, are you suggesting the HMVF couldn't do better than the WI ? :D

I have been studying different calendar formats but I am currently stuck on the Victoria's Secret calendar, for 8 hours...... Must admit a fusion between that and some MV's just seems appealing

Gotta say, while I'm not normally a huge fan of re-enactment, singling one guy out for personal comment seems a bit off-kilter for what is normally a friendly forum, especially when he's not here to put his side across.

I think there's a difference in context - I wouldn't dress up and pretend, but I can understand others dressing up for education etc.

I think this is the bottom line statement at the end of every thread on this subject, some people want to, some people don't. Different people different tastes and if that wasn't the case everyone would own a Jeep with airborne markings (ok bad example :-D)

  8. When out with the Land Rover I tend to wear clothes, as they are more comfortable than au naturel on vinyl seats especially on a hot day, but a HMVF flag might work instead.

    Mike

I was thinking of pricing a few up out here as was planning on going to war and peace. Maybe pennant sized for antennas. Have to ask Jack and Joris

There's a good reason why a HMVF calander is not on the agenda. :wow:

A desk calendar of vehicles would be nice....... could run a thread on the top 12 photos from 2013.
