http://memolition.com/2013/10/16/time-lapse-map-of-every-nuclear-explosion-ever-on-earth/
"Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto has created a beautiful, undeniably scary time-lapse map of the 2053 nuclear explosions which have taken place between 1945 and 1998, beginning with the Manhattan Project’s “Trinity” test near Los Alamos and concluding with Pakistan’s nuclear tests in May of 1998. This leaves out North Korea’s two alleged nuclear tests in this past decade (the legitimacy of both of which is not 100% clear)."

I sent a list of amendments to DVLA, on the correct form for the ACMAT, including the correct chassis number and model number.
Typically, how long does it take them to send out a corrected V5?

but anything that comes that way has to go through bleeding Melbourne and AQIS there are worse than the Gestapo! Petty and money grabbing!
Two things I have been advised to do regarding AQIS....
1. AQIS has a checklist so best thing to do is to contact them before the vehicle is shipped and ask if the checklist you have is the current and applicable one. This lets you know what has to be done but also lets them know you are not an easy target. I would go so far as to use the checklist and photograph each bit.
2. A little known fact is you can be there at inspection, they give every excuse that you can't be, but you can be there at the time of inspection. Classic excuse is HSE, which means you have to wear a hard hat, boots,, blah blah

I like the philosophy that you own and paid for it so it is your choice what you do with it. If you feel it honours your friend and makes you feel ok then it has to be ok.
Our condolences

I was looking at the official website the other night with the fancy timer.
I couldn't find the prices, have they yet to be announced for 2014? What does it typically cost to bring a vehicle in?
Just having some crazy thoughts for July 2014 :nut:

Dear Mike,
I had not seen your last two posts into this thread. Thank you for taking the time and confirming the legend that the place exists.
No doubt nothing will get out of there of any value to us armour people.
One day we should really meet!
R
Tried to get up there today as was a day off, but no responses to phone calls or emails. Can see the place from Google earth so I will try to pester him some more and track him down as have to come back to here in a few weeks.
I was half tempted to go take pictures of the Comet at the harbor defence museum but it appears that is the most interesting thing at the museum.

They appear to be Royal Army Service Corps cap badges, but the Bedford QL has a tac sign* in a dark colour with "IC" over it. This is possibly Intelligence Centre, as Maresfield Camp in East Sussex was home of the Intelligence Corps in the Fifties, before later moving to Ashford.
* sign would have been black
yep, I forgot to mention intelligence corps they were all driving for.
He would call the Bedford a TCV (Troop Carrying Vehicle).
One of the other guys at work at the UK head office was a driver of armoured vehicles in Borneo and Aden. He was saying how he had one blown up by a mine under him. Apparently he has some interesting photos.
A few more different vehicles on a French website
