    Back to topic: I think it is a Fiat-SPA AS43. Nice find, are you going after it?

    Will be nice to see what other bits are in that barn...... they seem to use and alloy plate for ID. Now we need more piccies from the barn... and yes someone buy it

    several of the European states were RHD originally, Dutch was one of the others I believe

    I don't know that much about them.... just found them interesting especially the one that looks like a Kubelwagen on steroids. I believe that model is quite rare.

     

    Be nice to see some side shots. Is there other missing bits laying around?

     

    RHD also which I thought nice.

    Maybe the best thing is to come up to Cambridge sometime when you are there and bring one of the spare SUMB boxes ?

     

    For various reasons Monday or Thursday evenings are best for me

    Looks like I will be back in the UK around the 12th of October. Some of the wiring has been bodged on my Acmat, with the most obvious being the heater fan and window washer switches that are something from Tesco's.

     

    So my plan is to change:

     

    1. power chrome toggle switch to Sumb lever type

    2. Windscreen washer plastic Tesco junk to sumb type

    3. Fan switch from Tesco to sumb knob (but need to find an on/off 2 position switch)

    4. Heater switch from Tesco to sumb knob (but need to find an on/off 2 position switch)

    5. Driving light to sumb knob (but need to find an on/off 2 position switch)

     

    The Hotchkiss pull on off switches might be useable but I need to delve into it further

    Did they never export Sumb's?

     

    I have some English stuff for the Acmat but they were sold to a lot of countries.

     

    This site is were I find the most info http://www.vehiculesmilitaires.com/viewforum.php?f=18 but you cannot post in English... Some of the restoration blogs are useful, but the site moved 3 times so the threads are a lot shorter now

     

    Leboncoin has some good stuff but often they wont post overseas but is worth a look. Much better if you got a contact to chase the stuff for you

    One of the Instow DUKW's. I understand that the remainder are due to go to Withams soon. The last of the WW2 MV's still in service with the military in this country at least?

    I have to digress.... but it is historical

     

    In Aussie we could never call anything in the Army Ajax as Ajax, FAB and OMO were all clothes washing powders and had very alternate meanings.

     

    legend says the Army wives would use these boxes as a code signal:

     

    - AJAX = Army Jerk Away on eXercise

    - OMO = Old Man Out

    - FAB = F'ing A'le Back
