  1. I did some volunteer work on the one that was left in Perth. It was originally at the airport entrance then moved to the Bullcreek Aviation museum late 70's.

A lot of errors in the website. No mention of its French Maritime service and the black and white shot I believe is at the original location at the airport as you can just see the Mosquito on the left, which as far as I recall rotted away.

    edit...

the original post of Lancaster WU16 is the one now in the museum over here

  2. am looking forward to working on the Enfield as a long term project as there is still some small jobs to complete on the MW.

"long term project", this will be something novel as your restorations are super fast..........yes I am jealous :-D

  3. Thanks for posting that link. To my view there is a sense of relief in all the expressions, a 'That's it, let's go home' feeling. Looks odd with both sides appearing to cooperate help each other along. My German is unfortunately rather dismal so couldn't read the comments. Any idea where this was filmed? Where were they going, and where from?

Another reason for the sense of relief was that the soviets were closing and demanding borders be shut with any German caught on their side going to gulags or................ I read this book about a year ago and lots of information in it I was unaware of https://www.amazon.com/After-Hitler-Second-World-Europe/dp/1848544960

Pretty sure a lot of Germans got trapped in Czechoslovakia

  4. Those M113 hulls would be in Italy, wouldn't they?

    10 68

not sure..... popped up on a mates Facebook. I was thinking the US because of the massive building in some of the shots, but could be somewhere else, given they are all green.

What I think strange is there is several companies that upgrade M113's by stretching them and adding an extra bogie, armour etc. You would think they would be kept in storage until that demand fizzled out

  5. When does the hull of one of these become a no longer viable item such that it is scrapped? I know my Minis used to rust out until they were ready to be folded up and delivered to the scrappy, so are these hulls flawed in some other way?

    trevor

I think as they slowly replace them with the AMPV this is just their de-mil program as there is not many M113's in civilian ownership

  6. Up until recently was owned by Terry Paskins, here it is http://ccmv.aecsouthall.co.uk/p938759029/h148FE596#h148fe596

I remember I found some correspondence in an early edition of Soldier I think it was suggested such a thing was a one-off, but the correspondent stated I think there may been as many as six of these done by various REME units around the place. It included a picture of one smashed in an RTA in Austria. I posted the picture, I'll see if I can retrieve it from Photobucket.

    Very nice looking vehicle

  7. I am hoping to get some armour pictures whilst over here.....just depends if i can fit it in. Beijing apparently has a lot of rare armour and some place i am going next week has some also
