weather report from somerset ....
raining but no wind as of yet.
just done a 5 hour drive from leeds this evening and i have passed thru all sorts of mad weather but to be honest not as mad as the drivers on the motorways i couldn't see thru my windscreen due to rain.sensible folk (me included) travelling at 40mph but felt the idiots passing in the other 2 lanes at ridiculous speeds rather than saw them...:banghead:

just an enquiry at the minute but can anyone help.
Might need to move a 30ft showmans caravan from leominster in hereford to frome in somerset.Apparently it will tows ok but needs something fairly substantial to tow it.. or alternatively someone in that area with a low loader who would fancy doing the job at a reasonable rate
thanks in advance

Looking at it we think that someone in the past has re-wired it to take a Mk2 starter with a separate starter solenoid. Also other weird issues with the fuel solenoid......
Whats the weird issue ? might be able to help.

Hi All,
Although the green goddess is currently stored at a very nice place under cover about 20 miles from where I live, it is a little on the pricey side and a little far away for an evening's work. It also would be even more pricey were the fleet to expand - something which might be nice in the future!
Before I trek around some local farms in the area toi hunt for space, is anyone aware of anywhere in this area which might have suitable undercover storage?
Duncan.
if you dont mind it on show my boss might let you store it up here as part of our museum /collection. ( Nr junc20 M1)
let me know i'll put you in touch

Now every one wants to wear some sort of uniform.
Its a free country and men and women have fought for that
However if you are a re-enacter you have a duty to get your chosen period correct if not that IS disrespectful .
I second this well said

Looking good, well done! Just one point, be careful with idleing the engine too slowly, the master rod bearing gets almost no oil below 600 rpm.....
cheers adrian for that dont want to kill her at this stage .

evening all been a very hectic few days i have almost had a nervous breakdown on this engine ,nitro has pitched a tent in the workshop and is sleeping in it 2 hrs a night as thats the only way i can see he is getting so many jobs finished ,captain chaos has had to have the grinder surgically removed due to repetetive strain injury and best of all strange things are happening like cans of stella being left in the workshop for us today at knocking off time (cheers wayne much appreciated)
Anyway here is a pictorial update and if it works a video !!!
First off turret is on i had a day off with my nipper friday and returned saturday to this wonderful sight
nitro sent me this as a teaser fri night interesting view
captain chaos welding dust guard mounting strips on, had to have these remake as the original mounts were beyond salvage
lights ,brushguards and plugs in place masked ready for final paint .
And finally a video of our C4 engine firing up today for the first time (well 2nd time but that was 30 seconds prior to this start up and i hadnt given my camera to wayne :red:) this is running on R/H Mag with rough timing . happy as a pig in muck when it fired up ...
hope the video works
cheers for looking more progress to follow tomorrow hopefully

Evening all some progress this week .
First of all i have been busy with the engine(number 2 the C4) had each cylinder off and de-coked them and a thorough clean of everything did the last one today so monday i shall be setting valve clearences replacing HT terminals, timing magnetos & refurbing clutch and then by wed hopefully we shall have a test run fingers crossed .
Also today manned the loader to help Nitro refit the ammo lockers .
been really good to get those lockers back in as they start to make the interior look like a tank again not just an expensive skip:cool2:
cheers for looking

Differences Between Ford and Willys Jeep Chassis / Bodywork??
in American Vehicles
Posted
worth mentioning that early scripted fords used chassis from midland who built chassis for willys. so you may find that a ford tub is on a willys chassis. someone will know the chassis numbers that this happened between i havent got the imfo to hand. these chassis carried the number stamped in the standard ford position not on a plate between bumper mount like willys.
hope this makes sense.enjoy the mine field that is jeeps;)
