  1. Nice thread cheers.Post 6 picture 4 is a drop boat I think. I dont know much about them apart from my friend owned one that had been converted into a houseboat on the canal. Unfortunately he had a fire and the wooden cabin and interior fit out were a right off but the hull was only slightly damaged. When he approach various museum to donate it he was met with very little interest and sorry to say it went for scrap.l'll see if I can dig up some photos.Anyone who could fill me in with a little history on these drop boats that would be cool.

  2. Hi all hope everyone has had a good christmas. As i have a 2 weeks off i thought i would start a thread for our latest resto at White Star Militaria in Somerset.

As normal my posts will be picture heavy as my typing skills are not great but feel free to ask questions or comment.

This Dodge is a Wc22 half ton pick up D.o.D was 2/20/42 so quite late in production.chassis number of 81913950.With a bit of rubbing back found the original hood number of 242560 in blue but also she had a yellow navy number over the top (more of which later).

To see some before pictures here is a link to the original advert photos http://s389.photobucket.com/user/sjclassics/media/1942%20Dodge%20WC%2022/IMG_6707.jpg.html?sort=6&o=10 to give you idea of condition etc.

First of all we did a total strip down to assess parts/repairs needed.

After removing some rather heavy extra plates we discovered some bad cracks at the front of the chassis where an A-frame of some description had been attached. These were repaired and some gusset brackets made to add strength.

when all chassis repair were finished we sent it away for shot blasting.

Then rear axle was stripped cleaned and overhauled completely,as were the leaf springs(contained extra leaves so removed and put to original).

Re bushed and refitted to painted chassis.

complete strip of rear axle cleaned re sealed then painted.

  3. Hi has anyone got a half ton dodge wiring diagram (covering wc22) We are in need of a pdf, scan, photo copy whatever you have and or colour codes and lengths from parts book.Need to try and match up the remnants of our loom before its sent away to be remade. cheers in advance pretty desperate as manual is on the way but wont be here in time before loom has to go.

    cheers

  4. cheers for the replys i tend to agree that it will detract from the final value which is a shame because paint to me is the least important thing about a resto, there are to many fresh painted vehicles out there that look great from a distance but when you get close you realise that they have merely been shot blasted and painted and then punted as a grade A restoration.

The jury is out at work till next week which will sensibly be the time to decide on finish i will post some pic either way we go,in the meantime heres a few more of what work has been done.

  5. We are mid way thru a restoration of a half ton wc22 dodge and are in debate as to whether we should leave the cab wings etc in original paint and patina.Bear in mind underneath this vehicle no nut and bolt has been left untouched it has had winch, pto, g/box,diffs etc reconditioned.new brakes and fuel lines, wiring harness, also the chassis has been shot blasted and painted. The cab has a great patina to it and we really like it and some original markings (us navy)showing. But here is the hard bit the vehicle is being restored to sell and we are concerned that leaving it original will either put people off or diminish the final selling price.

    Your thoughts on this ....
