  1. Crikey, fascinating! Would have thought someone would have known about it.
  2. Isn't there anyway you can quit, or are you tied by the contract to not leave until the company is done with you?
  3. Welcome to the forum, your motorbike sure has an interesting history! I'm interested in British early-war vehicles, don't own one and it's a shame there isn't many about, especially the Cruiser tanks like the A9 etc.
  4. Still a very interesting vehicle, the Humber LRC, first saw one at the RAF Museum Hendon a few years ago, before then had never heard of one, although personally prefer the Morris, I really like the looks of it, it's very unusual (maybe that's why I like it)
  5. Many thanks for your help, and very interesting website MilitantGraham, i'm sure the drawings will come in handy. If anyone else has any drawings etc please let me know, will be great to see a 1/72 AEC Matador other AEC vehicles on the chassis produced.
  6. Ah right, it'd be a nice addition to Kemble, luckily that's not that far from me either (Well it won't be when I get a part time job and car)
  7. Excellent, the Albion CX22S is one of my favourite military vehicles, can't wait to see it on the show circuit, any chance of War And Peace next year? Only been once but been dying to go back ever since.
  8. Wow didn't know there were so many about, the restorations looking good ackack, is she going into Royal Artillery colours when done?
  9. Boy I bet you got some looks then  Not that i'm jealous or anything...
  10. Well the proper 'Tommy' helmets, the Mk II, started to come out of service in 1944 when the Mk III came in, the Mk III IV and V all pretty much look the same until you get to the Mk 6 which is the current sort of helmet. Personally I think the Tommy helmets looked quite good, and very distinctive of the British Soldier.
  11. Nice website, is the Albion CX22S under restoration? Didn't know there was more than two left, theres one at Duxford and seen a photo of one in a museum in civilian colours in scotland, wasn't aware of any others.
  12. Similar to my post about the 15 cwt trucks, i've been asked by a model company to try and find plans for the following AEC Matador AEC Dorchester ACV AEC Deacon AEC Deacon armoured supply lorry Edit - forgot the AEC Armoured cars as well Also any other vehicles that were on the AEC Matador chassis. Any help much appreciated, cheers, Rob Langham
  13. Man that looks fun, should have a charity military vehicle race meeting sometime, don't know if they'd let Scorpions etc fly around the track though!
  14. Anyone got any photos of Morris LRC's? Trying to gather them for my website about the Morris Light Recce Car, going to finally update it after about 4/5 years! http://www.geocities.com/britsatwar/morris_recce_car.html (might not work at the moment but i'm going to move it to another host anyway)
  15. The Public Record Office holds service records, my Dad got my grandads but it can only be sent to the direct descendant so it was sent to my uncle (luckily he only lives two miles away), it was very interesting reading. All you need is the army number and name, managed to find out what regiments my Grandad was in (he was on the 3.7inch AA guns at Tobruk when they were used against German tanks and then the Germans wiped them out, he was very lucky to escape) Edit - you have to write to them though with the neccessary information, and it costs £25 which I reckon is a rip off for a poor quality photocopy (could barely read half of it and had to try and do dot-to-dot on some words)
  16. Will do, should be due in the next two weeks hopefully, on Friday I got the Cromwell models 1/76 scale Morris LRC mk II, i'll build that and the TP Models 1/72 scale Morris LRC mk I together so i'll post them both up, if you ask me there the best Morris LRC's you can get in small scale (milicast one looks wrong and the Extratech one isn't fun to build and the wheels are wrong)
  17. Yeah, also to a lot of people the Yank stuff is a lot more glamorous than the Brit stuff, although personally i'd rather have an Austin Tilly than a Jeep anyday
  18. Typical, leave your armoured car unattended while you go for a quick leak in the woods, get back and someones nicked not only your tyres, but your wheels and fenders! Seriously though, what's with the lack of wheels and fenders, is it battle damage? I've seen a few photos of the museum there and the exterior exhibits seem to all be battle damaged, the Churchill had gone over a mine or two and the Sherman's turret was at a funny angle because of a hit
  19. Spares etc and quantity is a big issue as well, for example it's a lot easier to find spares for your Dodge WC51 than for a Fordson WOT2 etc
  20. Nice one Neil, fully agree with you there. Why would the government actually want to take military vehicles though? A Willys Jeep is about as dangerous as a Ford Fiesta (then again Fiesta's are faster so maybe they're more dangerous than a jeep). If such a thing happened i'm sure there'd be huge uproar, especially from veterans.
  21. Cheers, shame no one restores it theyre pretty rare! Also remembered that someone from Burma or somewhere in the far east e-mailed me a couple of years back, they found a Morris LRC in the jungle where it had been used against guerillas post-war, and was being restored for a museum.
  22. Ratchet do you have any pics? Yeah i've got some photos of Ian Wests, haven't spoke to him in ages but tried e-mailing him but the e-mails just bounced back. Theres also someone that had two Morris LRC's, one in bad condition, apparently he kept the best one and gave the other to a local museum as a gate guardian, going to snail mail him soon and see if I can find out more about that. Might be doing a book for Osprey Publishing about the Morris, won't be until I get a car though so I can get pics of as many as possible.

    BSA M20

Does anyone know roughly how much BSA M20's go for, and whether you have to be 21 or not to ride them? Don't know what cc they are, but theres only a certain amount of cc's a motorbike can have if you want to ride it while your under 21. Would like an M20, nice looking bikes and on the plus side it's a military vehicle.
  24. Theres a WW2 British motorbike (Not sure what it is, think it's a Norton) in the Coventry Transport Museum (partly closed until March 2006) with a sidecar, got some photos of it somewhere. Also have a Daimler mk I armoured car and one of Monty's Humber staff cars.
  25. Yeah that's the Midland Air Museum, as well as some great aircraft they have a post-war Bofors, David Brown RAF tractor and a Dodge 6x6, I think they have a military vehicle meet there once a year
