  1. Would some form of missile/projectile fit over the 4 "spikes"?
  2. How about a target for anti aircraft training?
  3. A flying robot of a sci fi film :? Or some type of sea mine?
  4. Time for torque wrenches at 20 paces :? If you want to make it into a competition, you can refurbish my landrover at beltring-person who does their half in the quickest time gets the prize :-D (of nothing). (and I know it's a boring vehicle-but I've not got the storage room to ferret anything else away) :yawn2:
  5. Is the set up anything to do with simulated practice and training facilities :?
  6. 2nd guess. I agree with the Indian idea, but would it have been towards the end of, and after WW11. When independance was a hot issue? :?
  7. A new spec at Beltring was £100-about 250, and an old spec seemed to be £500+ (The £100 one was a lucky buy on my part :-D). If your feeling flush, this one is very nice :-o http://www.helstongunsmiths.com/shop/images/Picture-046.jpg http://www.helstongunsmiths.com/shop/images/Picture-047.jpg http://www.helstongunsmiths.com/shop/images/Picture-sterl.jpg From http://www.helstongunsmiths.com/fr_shop-1.html
  8. Because all the water will have drained out :-D
  9. Might as well start with a guess 1. What are these regulations about? Public order? 2. Where did they apply? South africa? 3. When did they apply? Boer war? (the mention of Machine gun's, transportationand whipping sugest around that period to me)
  10. Do you know if it's a case that nobody actually bid on them, or that the bids were less than the scrap value? If somebody had the storage space, they could make a fortune buying them for £1 and then, at least sell the parts :dunno: (and once they were stripped bare, the main scrap value would be still be there-I presume it's not worth the bother for Withams to do it themselves)
  11. I was wondering if it was a pulley device used to move a suspect device to make it easier to get at? The operator could hook it, and use a pulley on a tree etc to move it. :dunno: :?
  12. Is there a bomb disposal connection?
  13. It isn't a picture of a dog handler is it? :?
  14. Was your neighbour chatting to you over the fence, and that was your reply :dunno:
  15. Is the curved device a battery of some sort? (making the box the charger?) :dunno:
  16. Ok, Are the 7 blob's in the slot electrical contacts, and if so does a lead go from this box to another item? :?
  17. Your right about the wiper switch. In case you haven't worked it out, you need to push in the little metal piece you should see through the hole in the wash button. They are sprung, but seem to rust up. I've not long done one, I used a bit of WD40 overnight, then used a punch to knock the sprung bit loose. (but don't do as I do, and slip and break the thing-lucky it was only my spare).
  18. Sound's like an ideal reason to try and find/ restore an LST
  19. The copy of the manual I have is dated 1965,but I get the feeling that they would have been in use up to at least 1976(when larkspur was phased out) with the same configuration. I'm not even sure if the spaces in the trailer are for the instrument on it's own, or in a transit case. (The manual is available for EMLRA members via the forum members section). Cheers. Matt
  20. Hello I'm trying to get some information on the equipment used in these trailers. Specifically, which makes and models of the following were used:- 1:Valve tester 2:signal generator 3:Absorption wattmeter 4:Watt meter 5:Valve voltmeter They all get a mention in the manual for the trailer, but there are no specifics It's probably not something many people will know, but I'm trying a bunch of forum's to try and get the answers. Cheers Matt
  21. I agree(more health and safety panic) :police: -and for the record, some deact bren's still have the extractor parts in, and most of the firing pin! (the firing pin just gets cut off when the bolt face is ground off to 45 degrees) It makes little difference either way, as they can't do anything, and if you can see them, you can also see the mechanism is cut!
  22. On the presumption that the ropes are guy's to hold down a dummy vehicle, is the device used to make fake track's. To fool the enemy about vehicle movements? :? I do enjoy these guessing games-please keep them coming!
  23. Would the bleach kill grass, and mark a runway for daytime landing's?
