  1. Hi Jaap , No bother I will measure the length of the poles on the side of my truck - Has your nody also got the map board/table attached to the other side or is it a different type cheers Glynn
  2. Hi Mate , Yes you are right as I have stated elsewhere the wireless truck came to me from Eddie and didn't have much in the way of original fittings in the rear - Just the lamps and electric sockets , blow tube and fan in the corner - The only other thing in there was a table across the width of the body up front which made a sort of improvised bed . I have all the original fittings now after a lot of searching etc . Do you know whatever happened to the enamelled plate with the wiring diagram on it as I don't think that was on when I got the truck although there is a plate on the drivers door which has been painted over and some more holes where other plates etc had been - i must go and have a look . Did you ever find any of the bits and bobs you said you might have a little while back ? Please let me know cheers :coffee:
  3. Hi jaap , As far as I am aware most of the items you see in the back are fitted in the same position as they had always been as they just seem to fit back right in position if you get my meaning . It is like putting a mechano set together in that holes existed in most cases where things had been previously fastened . The switchboard as far as I am aware has always been in that position on mine and was also in the same position on the body I extracted the bits from as under the table , although the photo's don't show them were various Battery securing clamps and trays etc with the centre bit being where the wireless ops feet would go in an indented tray in the floor . I did have a spare switchboard at one time but will have to have a look as I think I may have passed it on but will let you know if I find it . The object on the end of the wheelarch sits next to the seat on the wheelarch and is simply an open topped box to put items such as aerial tubes etc in and is nothing fancy as it is a simple box made from plywood and tin - I will try and get up to the unit at some stage and take some more pics for you if you like . When I bought the truck it was empty in the back of most of the fixtures and fittings - It had the wall lights and blackouts and the fan and switches in the corner but it only had a wooden bench along the rear to make an improvised bed . I was extremely lucky to find a radio body in a yard in Lincolnshire which had all of the correct items I needed for mine such as the genny cupboard , the ops table , cupboards/shelving units and the fastenings to go with them - we also got all brackets and the seat that hangs from te genny cupboard also so we were very lucky in that respect - I will post more when I get them but if you need any more info then please just give me a shout Cheers :coffee:
  4. Hi Jaap , Here are some photo's of the interior of the Guy Ant wireless truck interior - They are quite old but I thought I would send you them as my Truck is in storage at the moment - Hope they are of use Cheers Glynn
  5. That'll be the one as I believe there was only one ever bought and built , same goes for the sugga . The can cars are another matter as we have made loads of those as have other companies:-D
  6. Nice Pictures mate glad to see them posted here thanks:thumbsup:
  7. We picked the Sugga up when Red Bull bought and it was all in its' original trim when it was taken to Austria for conversion - Never actually seen this one since it has been done so can't say - Has anyone seen the Milkfloats?? or the can cars!? Cheers:cool2:
  8. Did it have oversized wheels and tyres on it? If so it is a Red Bull promo vehicle which they bought and had converted a couple of years back - It is also running range rover running gear and auto box - It has speakers etc inside it - We have recovered it a few times , they also have a sugga somewhere as well :cheesy:. Forgot to mention - Spotted Sunday afternoon going northbound on the M1 just north of Sheffield a very nice Bedford MWD 15cwt along with a number of old buses and Hot rods etc - probably on their way home from a show ??:coffee:
  9. Hi Mate , Nice truck it is too !! Stuart rang me to say he had bought it - The Div signs are identical to the ones on my Jeep!! which are its' own genuine wartime markings!! Cheers Glynn
  10. Hi Mate , the plate you have could be from a number of vehicles as Morris Commercial cars seemed to have made most of the house type wireless bodies for other truck manufacturers such as my own Guy Ant - It even says that M.C.C. were providing the wireless bodies for my contract of Guy Ants on the original Contract cards! As for being off a cs8 I wouldn't have thought this would be the case as the date on the plate being 1942 would suggest that the body is the later metal clad wireless body whereas the cs8's would have the earlier wood planked bodies althouigh still made by M.C.C'S ! I will look up the contract number when I get a minute to see what truck it was fit to cheers:coffee:
  11. My first Military Vehicle was very nearly a Humber Box at the tender age of 14 for £650 - In between saying I would have it and collecting it the owner allowed another buyer to gazump me and buy it for £750 without telling me - I had to make do with a 1954 Austin A30!!!!! until my Royal Navy scooter arrived a year or so later!! closely followed by a Dodge WC51 . My nephews and nieces have travelled with me far and wide to many shows etc and in the main have always remained interested - Two of my Nephews are old enough to drive the trucks now and one is doing well having piloted the Jeep and one of my Morrises this year whereas the other is still a little scared of them . So there are still young folk out there that are interested including myself at 39!! cheers :coffee:
  12. Hi Andy , Definitely a later war lightweight gas mask bag - I have one of these complete with the mask - definitely a WD Military issue and not civvi - Hope this helps cheers:coffee:
  13. Haven't seen anything posted on these on here before , so please forgive me if Iam covering old ground here . I am trying to get a thread going to see what people know of the early Ford wot 2 - Iam predominantly interested in the various versions of the early aeroscreened versions of the WOT2'S such as the WOT2A & WOT2C especially - The more pictures the merrier please !! Also I Would also be interested to know whether anyone knows of a aeroscreen version for restoration that I can add to my collection ?? Any leads please cheers:coffee:
  14. The main vehicle used in the 1935 Trials in North Wales and which appears in most publications you see for the beetle is registered DMC 75 - Most of the 400 which were actually ordered and delivered and I have seen mentioned appeared to have the MG.... Registration numbers . I have a photo of DMC 75 and will try and post it on here cheers :coffee:
  15. I agree about the early deacs going up in price as you can see this being the case all the time and it is deffo better than money in the bank but beware I once fell victim to a thief who stole several items of kit from my Dodge weapons carrier including a .50 cal Browning which was a very good replica with some original parts on it . I even had it chained and locked on - It took me 18 months to finally get it all cleared up including several interviews with the police!! So be warned other people see these items as valuable assetts also - I now watch my Genuine wartime fifty and dated ground mount like a hawk especially when mounted on the jeep!! as I would hate to try and find a replacement or go through all the hassle again!! So please be careful as not all interest in your kit is good interest cheers :coffee:
  16. Hi Chris , Looking like the Morris Commercial will be coming over this weekend to Woodvale - Saving the G.S. Guy Ant for next year !!!:cool2:
  17. Not seen that one before , but who knows - Having the peaked bonnet would suggest that this truck had been another wireless truck or had had the bonnet retro fitted or borrowed it from a wartime vix-ant . I have heard of possibly an aeroscreen model surviving in the Merseyside area which I will hopefully try and find a bit more out this weekend when we attend the woodvale rally at formby . Also hopefully soon going to have a look at the remains of a quad ant g.s. also ... watch this space:coffee: Going back to the New Zealand truck perhaps Kiwi can shed some light on this one??
  18. Hi Dave and welcome to the forum , Yes the House type body does make a big difference in the weight , although the truck handles it very well - I also have an early G.S. version too but in my case the wireless truck definitely seems the more spritely of the the two . My wireless truck hasn't been out on the show circuit for a few years now but may make a return next year as I have a building project to complete to give it a new home so to speak then I can give it a fresh coat of paint but yes I have had it sometime now and still think it is great - Have you any pics you can post of yours or send me ?? cheers rgds Glynn:coffee:
  19. Hi , Definitely a K9 Wireless Body that one , Retro - fitted by a restorer I would guess but still looks very nice and useable:coffee:
  20. Thanks for the Photo Rippo!! - I will post some more pics up later once I get the old camera fired up . A very good event , Many thanks to Stuart and the gang at Ponderosa for making us all so welcome and will definitely be back next year , Hopefully with an even bigger selection of vehicles coming along for the event . On a different subject I met up with a chap at the event who owned a Jeep which was parked next to the very nice Dukw , Does anyone know this chap or indeed are you a member on here as I forgot to get your number - Please pm me with details cheers:coffee:
  21. I might take something along if I am not working that day - Took my Morris cs8 last and had a good day!!
  22. Hi Mate - No this is not true at all and do not know where this rubbish has come from ??? The entry to the event is totally free to all entrants the only stipulation at the moment is , that all vehicles must be from ww2 - The event is not open to post war vehicles this year . I have posted the number for Stuart who is organising the event for the vehicles side...Give him a ring and get booked in . Stuart is passionate about ww2 vehicles especially British types as he owns amongst others a K2-aty ambulance and a Tilly . The owner of ponderosa itself is also passionate about Militaryu vehicles and is sending out invites free of charge and is allowing all entrants free entry to the zoo etc and is doing what he can to welcome entrants - This is a charity event for an excellent cause which we would like to grow into something good for us Northerners to enjoy and to welcome people from way up North to way down South and beyond so please get booked in as soon as you can - Cheers Guys:coffee:
  23. Good Luck with the restoration mate - It will definitely be worth it in the long run and another British wartime truck brought back to life ! It is such a shame as I was once privileged enough to see 9 of these in a Scrap yard in Scamblesby in Lincolnshire but the best one was a complete and untouched one which had been covered over its' roof with old corrugated tin sheets and the sides were protected by two buildings either side which had protected the daubed canvas sides over the years and kept it complete - the other ambulances , which were all driven in convoy together into the yard after failing to sell at auction had been robbed of wheels and axles (prob for farm trailers) and were in varying states of decay after laying there for many years . Unfortunately I have been led to believe this yard was cleared out by the owners son following his death and now no longer exists !!! :coffee:
  24. Hi Guys - This event is shaping up quite nicely now with a reported 158 wartime vehicles booked in already . I have had Stuart the organiser on the phone asking if there is anyone out there who has any of the following and will be available on the weekend for ponderosa - He is looking for anyone with : Larger wartime british vehicles in any format such as AUSTIN K2 / K3 / K5 SCREAMERS or any K6 Variants - He has some K2 - KATY Ambulances going and has most wartime models of Bedfords . Any wartime armour such as Tanks / carriers etc and there respective Transport vehicles A bofors 40mm Anti Aircraft Gun - There is a veteran from ww2 who will be in attendance who will be celebrating his 90th birthday at this event who used to fire these and 25 pounders with the Desert Rats . ALL WARTIME Vehicles are welcome irrespective of nationality - Sorry no Post - war If you can help out at all please ring Stuart on 07748 604461
  25. Spot on - Thanks everyone for your input- does anyone know if any have survived into restoration??cheers:coffee:
