It's a very, very nice machine Richard - now to pray the home finance figures work out the way I hope at the end of the month so that we can then progress to hoping that the loan request goes through OK!!!!!
Damn good job that "hope springs eternal" according to the old adage

Sorry dont recognise the driver, but is that picture taken down in Sussex
It is Do you recognise the area and/or vehicle Mark???
-
Wish I could have made it
Sounds like a great time was had by all!!!

As most I think know - we went "shopping" last weekend for the object of my desire - a Mk 2 Stalwart. Well - if we meet our financial targets at the end of this month this is the beastie that will be mine by the mid to end of May - those eagle eye ones who were at Coalhouse Fort the other weekend mught just recognize the driver!!:
What do you think for £6,000 folks (load bed cover is in the load bay together with the IVJL and there is a full clansman intercom installation)??????
-
Dunno about the shoe size - but normally on drum brakes there is either a cam or a screw on the back plate that lets you "wind" the shoes back in!!
-
In all honesty - I've absolutely no idea!!! Never studied Ferret prices as I've been fixed on Stalwarts
I rather liked it - but the wife would kill me if I even expressed an interest - esp. if she saw the Bren!!!

If the screen colour looks like reality but what comes out of the printer is different then it might also pay to check the ink levels in the printer and, if possible the colour balance, LexMark for example give you a test routine that prints off a page and you then determine visually which colour setting looks right on a number of samples and enter the appropriate value - this then sets the pinter colour balance for the current ink cartridge. Can you do this on the printer you have??

Mk1/2 Ferret up for grabs on eBay tonight if any one is interested:
Currently sitting at £21 - but the reserve is set at £5,250.
In the markings of the Ghurka's as of 1974 - price includes Larkspur installation and Bren Mk 2...........
Neil.

Very impressive - look forwards to seeing it for real one day!!

Alas - I'm away the next two weekends
Of to Weston Super Mare to take our existing caravan back to the dealers ready for hand over next weekend. Then after collecting the new van we're off to Wales - ostensibly to try it out but I suspect the wife is trying to lay some rather unpleasant ghosts dating back around 30 years!!
Hope you all have a good time !!!!

As for the vehicle identifier thing, what with a tax disc, EMLRA sticker, First Aid kit carried sticker, etc, etc, Its getting harder to see out the windscreen already Good idea though
You forgot the "authentic" mud 'n muck that should be liberally distributed over the outer surface!!!!

Back in my day UN forces comprised units from National forces in their normal kit but with the blue beret and either a badge on the shoulder OR UN armbands. Seem to recall that the armbands were being replaced by the sewn-on patches as I left???

Could always make it a purple triangle!!! Be rather appropriate for me
-
Sounds like a good idea to me! Might be good to have one for personal wear for those attending without vehicles?????
-
Cheers John - as/when/if she comes home then there are some chips etc. on the visible engine surfaces that are going to need refinishing!!
-
You'll need the blue beret and UN cap badge too!!

Lets see how the memory works after 30 years:
A rifle is a firearm designed to fired from a shouldered position which can discharge a bullet through a rifled barrel longer than 16 inches. The spiral parallel grooves (rifling) in the bore impart spin to the round, providing stability and extended range. Rifles can be either bolt action (SMLE Mk IV), semi-automatic (L1A1 SLR) or automatic (FN) whereas a carbine is a shortened form of the rifle that has a barrel less than 16 inches in length, and is used, typically, by those who require a weapon for self-defense and emergencies. Carbines usually tend to be semi-auto and are inferior to the rifles in most ways.

Did a quick search but couldn;t find any matches so here goes:
Any one happen to know the paint code/colour for the blue used on the RR B series engines, the B81 in particular??
And even better - can anyone recommend a supplier of said paint????
-
Thanks Lee - will do!!
-
Incidentally - something I forgot to ask earlier - any one know a firm/individual who runs things like earth moving kit down to East Sussex way and who might be interested in picking up a 9.5 ton back-load if returning empty????
-
Home improvement - that'd be a good one
If I park the Stalwart at home I'll need another loan to rebuild the drive after it had sunk under the weight!!!!!
Vintage truck sounds good though!!!

I hope not Jack otherwise Neils been sold a pup (no bonnet on a Stolly )
Good looking machine Neil lets hope the finances go through quickly for you.
Best of luck mate
Might not be a bonnet - but there's a hefty lump of cargo deck that won't do me any favours if it ges dropped on the old (literally!!) noggin whilst engaged in the depths of the trusty old B81!!
Luckily though the mechanicals should all be sorted by the time money changes hands - only fault was a leaky clutch and the owner is fixing it as he'd already ordered the parts. Speedo is non-op and that IS a job to do but otherwise all there is are some relatively minor cosmetic works to do around the inside of the roof hatches and the rear drop-gate.
