  2. Well done! Now would this be with Renault Cars or Trucks? No reason just wondered. Regards Richard. - just happens to own a Renault Magnum ;-)
  3. Really? WOW. :-) Might have to keep a look out ;-) Richard
  4. :-D Crazy isn't it! I think it's because they have jet turbine engines and they take a while to "wind/fire up". Richard - I want something with a jet turbine engine!
  5. It was a good programme wasn't it. :-) I want one of them spinning shot blasting cabinets ;-) The fuel consumption is fantastic isn't it. Totally mind boggling. I've heard somewhere, don't know if it was on that programme, that they use 8 gallons just starting up!! :schocked: Richard
  6. Well a few years ago a garage near us did have Red Diesel in their white diesel tanks and it was no accident. The garage was seriously short of money and it was a last ditch attempt to stay in business. It wasn't found out until a lorry was stopped by VOSA at Newark which is about 60 miles from us. When they dipped his tanks they were full of red diesel. The driver then produced the receipt for near enough a full tank of white diesel purchased an hour or so earlier and his tacho showed that he was telling the truth and had come straight from the garage. Needless to say, the garage soon went out of business and the innocent driver went on his way without charge. Richard
  7. Hi Neil, while I love the rugged simplicity of Soviet stuff , spares are the biggest problem. When I had my ZIL, quite often I had to end up getting bit's specially made for it in this country. I have to say I haven't been over to Richard Moores for ages ( he's only 10miles away ) ,I haven't need to since selling the ZIL, so he maybe able to get bit's easier now than he used to. One other point I would make about Soviet stuff is they are quite cramped. I'm about 6ft and not that fat ( well, I don't think at all fat ! ) but I only just got comfy in the ZIL. I know someone who has some experience driving quite a few Soviet tanks and while she is tall she is very slim and she found them very uncomfortable. Apparently, you need to be about 5ft tall with 4ft arms to truly fit a Soviet tank. Saying that, I would have another Soviet MV in a flash. Richard
  8. I might well be interested in a run on Salisbury plain in the Ferret, especialy as I now have this http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b394/RGrosvenor/Renault%20Magnum/DSCI0026.jpg[/img] It might be a bit of fun Richard
  9. Well a chap I know who has vintage tracked tractors said he took his H licence in his field and it basically involved maneuvering around some cones. Nothing was done on the road at all. So I dunno :dunno: Richard
  10. Wouldn't crash and constant mesh be the same thing? :? But a question, why with gearboxes such as the Eaton Twin Splitter is it OK, and recommend, not to use the clutch when changing gear? Richard
  11. Yeah yeah!! That's what they all say!! But getting back to morris c8 fat, did you really have someone squatting in the back of your vehicle? That's something I've always worried about happening with mine. The strangest thing I've found in one of mine, well on really, was a great big bunch of balloons. It was very strange, they were just sat on the roof of the Land Rover which was right down the field, miles from anywhere at about 11-30 at night! I never did find out were they came from. And no, they weren't helium filled so they hadn't come from a balloon release anywhere. :? Richard
  12. Them prices can't be right surely! It doesn't cost that much to get a LGV Artic licence, ( I know, I've just got mine 8-) ) When I enquired about an H licence from various places £500 was about the highest I got, which I still think is a lot of money. regards Richard
  13. That's British engineering at it's best! Regards Richard
  14. I nearly forgot.... Did I imagine it or is there/was there a product that could be sprayed into the air intake of a car to clean the air-ways and sensors? Richard
  15. Thanks Guys for all the ideas so far this is what always amazes me about this forum. How quickly replies come! :-D She put the same question on the Daewoo Owners forum (yes there is such a thing  ) a few weeks ago but hasn't had any replies. I have to say the idea about winding it back up make the most sense! :-D Apparently it's been doing this ever since she got the car, about 2 years, but as it is more of an inconvenience she's never really bothered about it. And it always re-starts at the first turn of the key. But there's always the worry that one day it won't re-start or it will cut out just as she's crossing a busy road or junction. Regards Richard
  16. Thank Neil. I'll try and have a look. The problem with the little `Tiz is that there doesn't seem to be a Haynes Manual or similar so trying to find faults is a bit of a problem. Regards Richard
  17. Hello, Now this isn't a MV based problem but I'm sure someone will be able to help. A friend of mine has a Daewoo Matiz which has a annoying intermittent fault. Every now and then it will cut out when she is slowing down. It doesn't seem to have any real pattern. It will do it 5 or 6 times in as many miles or it will go for many weeks without problem. The only thing I have found is that when the car is ticking over and you rev it ,just as it comes back to tick-over the engine will struggle to keep running as if the revs are set to low. I tried increasing the tick-over and it solved the problem....For about 3 weeks then it started doing it again. Now thinking that it might be a problem with a temp or slow running sensor but I really don't know. Any help would be much appreciated Many Thanks Richard http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b394/RGrosvenor/Renault%20Magnum/DSCI0002.jpg[/img]
